+2 They were a great close out price but worthless as far as riding shorts. I gave these away.

Medium size jerseys. Who am I kidding. I am a large at best and haven't been a medium since I was 12. I gave these away as well.

Well, I haven't exhausted my supply of bad purchases yet. So . . .
Red bibs. After the first ride, "NOW I remember why they said cycling shorts are black!" (No matter your saddle, if it's black, the black will come off on the bibs.) I'll wear them under tights in the winter and on my trainer.
My first power meter. It worked pretty well, but gave some errant readings. I learned some. Didn't see the possibility of learning much more. Sold it.
My second power meter. It works great. I learned a LOT. Don't see a great amount of future utility (for me, for what I'm doing). I'm selling it.
Messenger bag. Seemed like a good idea. I used it twice on my motorcycle -- haven't used it in two years. Can't seem to come to grips with selling it.

I have like 10 different seat bags. So 9 of them weren't right for me. I have CO2 supplies I'll never use, and tubes that no longer fit the rims I'm riding daily. Lots of gloves I don't like, stuff like that.

I pedal in my sleep...
Mountain bike. No matter how many times I try to get back on it, I just don't care for the ride position anymore. (Anyone wanna mtb for a cyclocross or a roof rack? Hah). I've also bought a few jerseys that deep down I knew I couldn't fit into.
Edit:
and well, this too:

No regrets but could have shopped around a bit more to get the stuff at lower prices. Should have bought a cheaper 2nd bike (maybe Sirrus instead of Tricross). Even a used one.

The used mountain bike I bought for my girlfriend in the hopes that she would go riding with me. It sits and is lonely and I feel bad for it. I keep the chain oiled and the cables adjusted just on the off chance she decides to, but....

Kickstand. I never use the dumb thing! It's too short! Besides, when would I ever use it? If my bike is stopped and not under me or at a rack, it's upside down because I'm fixing something. Oh and cyclocomputer, never use it anymore, I find it annoying.

Mistakes:
- Indoor trainers. I've owned two; I'd rather ride outdoors in the rain.
- Garmin Edge 305. Battery life too short; falls off; unreliable. I'm happier with simple cyclocomputers.
- Dura Ace. Ultegra is good enough; I shouldn't have spent the extra money.
- Cheap jerseys/cheap shorts. I never end up using my less expensive stuff that I bought for "just riding around;" the good stuff gets used a lot. Cheaper in the long run to buy quality.
- Cheap cycling socks. Ick.

Speedplay pedals - I tried the light actions, and I just couldn't deal with that much float. For perspective, I'm currently using Keo Max Carbon with gray cleats, only because the LBS was out of the zero float cleats.
White bar tape - too much trouble to keep clean.
Bontrager RXL shoes - these felt amazing in the shop, but made my feet hurt once I got on the bike. I tried three different pedal systems(Look, Shimano, Time) as well as several varieties of insole and cleat wedges, but I couldn't make the pain go away.
Sidi Genius 5 - similar to the above. In the shop, they were the best feeling shoes of any kind that I'd worn in my life. On the bike, agony.

Stock Kuota saddle. We did not get along. Went to Fizik Arione and never looked back.
LAS Kripton helmet. I could not find replacement pads, but continue to ride with it. I don't think that I will ever put new pads in it.

Nashbar gel bibs. I'm better off wearing cutoffs than these - the padding feels like sitting on someone's jello mold.
Look Road pedals. Not enough float and hated the duckwalk.

- Saddle bags; bought two, use none.
- CO2 pump/valve combo; nice idea combining both in one device but pump was useless and the device only takes 12g non-threaded cartridges...
- Ceramic bearings on the entire drivetrain (pulleys, BB, wheels); yes, they spin ridiculously well off the bike; I was still slow after the "upgrade"...
- Sigma wireless computer; just say, "no".
- Energy bars, gels, drinks, etc. Realized it easier and cheaper to use water, brown rice syrup, and real food (panini, sandwiches, fruit, cookies, etc.).
- Wax-based lube (specifically White Lightning); gave it a try just for kicks; it was a moment of weakness, what can I say?
- Any weight-weenie product I've purchased (too many to list).

Cheap bibs/shorts from Nashbar. Loose fitting PI jersey. Another PI jersey that's just too tight. I don't ever wear any of those clothes.
65mm Nashbar stem.
Old style Look Pedals.
Crank Brothers Quattro Pedals (prefer Look style pedals)

Hmmm....
I put together a fixie but I never really ride it. At least it was from stuff I already had except the hubs.
Threw a "cheap" bid on a C'dale TT frame but I guess it wasn't really cheap as I won it. B/c of my left arm situation I couldn't get on the aerobars so I tried to make a roadie out of it. Never fit right. "Re-ebayed" it and put the money (about 80% of what I paid) towards a Litespeed frame and am happy but it was too roundabout a path.
As a PSA I should tell you all any time I find a "deal" on tires b/c a better one always pops up a week later.

That reminds me how much i HATE my performance baselayer. I should have just spent the extra fifteen bucks and got a normal one.

Nyargh! Why did you have to bring this up?!
I have a pair of Sidi Ergo shoes hidden in my closet (so as to avoid the shame) that are a half-size too small for me. They were so cheap I couldn't resist, but I got tired of waiting for them to stretch out.
(Modern cycling shoes apparently don't stretch like the old leather-jobbies used to. )
