2010 Mavic Ksyrium Equipe

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I looked at these before I bought the Ksyrium Elites. The price was attractive, but they aren't fully machined and the spokes were not the same as the higher priced Ksyrium wheels. IMHO, Mavic came out with them so that bike manufacturers could put "Ksyrium Wheels" in their advertisements for nicer road bikes. I'd look at a set of Open Pro or CXP22 (33s if you can afford them) before I'd buy the Equipe model.
Let me add that the Ksyrium Elites are outstanding. I don't regret buying them for one minute.

you answered your own question there. they won't be too much of an upgrade over the r500, and i think they come in at 1800g. Not particularly aero either. Keep what you have & save up for something better

OTOH, i won my first collegiate circuit race and got second in a crit on heavy-ass 32H alex 22 front & ksyrium equipe rear, so even then, it's not gonna hold you back.

WH-R500 are garbage.

that said, ride them until they break, then buy some good wheels.

i was going to say they are on the heavy side but since you wont race, it's fine. there are other brands out there that are lighter for the same price range.

My rear is out of true after 2 months of use. I weight 185lb though. My friend has mavic aksium and they are 30% cheaper and seem lighter.

sounds about right. the aksiums are about the same weight. i only got mine b/c i blew both of my rims (shimano 561) and the lbs only had the equipes in stock. fwiw, i'm 158lbs and had a good 2000 miles on them before they were knocked out of true in a crash

only if the wh-500 are breaking down & no longer serviceable. as i said, the equipes are nothing special. save up another $200 & you can get soul wheels, williams, or the hand-built ones from BF's own psimet
