What comes around...........

Notices
Road Cycling It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle. -- Ernest Hemingway

What comes around...........

I am always talking trash and messing with other cyclists.......................well, I finally got my due this morning.

I am cruising at a pretty decent clip, still fired up from last night's speed ride, when I spot some college kid on a fixie (never underestimate a stu riding a fixed on flat ground) up ahead.

I get on his tail, then pull around and turn up the juice. I can see his shadow start to slip....................then it pops back into view. He is coming along for the ride. Cool.

I bang a turn and hit a slight headwind.......................oh joy. I gas the Pinarello, but he stays on my wheel. This is what cycling is all about. We then come up upon some cat in full spandex tights on a Surly touring rig with bags and all. We blow by him.

I am still running hard, and my turn towards the Airport comes up, so I begin to slow.

I hear this disembodied voice, "Is that all you got?" I turn around, and the Touring guy on the Surly is talking smack. Too funny. I guess he jumped into the line.

What a fantastic morning commute.

I hate you. My morning commute consists of sitting for 90 minutes in a car.

humbling experience. being mature enough to accept that trash talking/messing with other cyclist works both ways, it's cool.

I talk to other cyclists I meet on the road first... then I drop them.

Cyclists usually wave at me or smile. I do the same. Why do cyclists greet each other when meet up? :|

Why get embarrassed? Wave back, it the nice thing to do. Who knows the one you wave at might be the one who you need for help one day.

To the OP...Very cool story!

Just when we think we're the ****znatz, somebody comes along to put us in our place. Or in the immortal words of the 2000-year-old man:

"There's somebody bigger than Phil"
