Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

campagnolo vs shimano

This is a survey for a newbie like me to collect the concept about these brand name.
first i was used a tiagra(kind of middle class) then change to record, the feeling is very strange in the first place especially in the thumpshifts but i am getting use to it. i know to compare record with tiagra is not suitable so i just want to compare the high end with the high end:

super record with the dura ace (don't count the Di2 new electric groupset)
or record with ultegra

what do you all think?

I think you're trying to start an argument.

nah don't want any argument mate, just wondering what is people thinking about it, i used the tiagra and though it is quite heavy and you can say entry-level or low-end but still very quality to use, the brake is powerful and the shifting is quite match. About the record, well it is a whole new chapter, can't compare and i am not a pro ride but can feel the different between the shifting, i still have to get use to it but record is great. i just wondering what people like that is all.

Open ended questions don't usually go all that well.

My new bike has Ultegra 6700 and I can say with absolute certainty it is the greatest gruppo on the planet. My RS80 wheels are the stiffest, lightest and fastest there are.

Record and DA are way overpriced.

I like the title of this thread. Reminds me of the old days . . . . (before sram)
