I bought an 05 allez the year it came out and have been riding it stock ever since. Although I always rode a decent amount, I have been riding quite a bit latley and am starting to feel that my bike has some limitations. I recently decided to pick up a set of new wheels and have my mind made up on the Neuvation R28. I can get a deal on them for about 220-300 for a front and back wheel.

Down the road, what is the next thing to upgrade? My main concerns are (in no particular order) 1) weight, 2) comfort, and 3) performance increase.

The bike fit for me is pretty good. My stem is a tad long, but with it flipped it actually fits pretty nicely. It is comfortable, but my saddle leaves a little bit to be desired. The handeling is mediocre and leaves a lot to be desired. Hopefully the new wheels help with this (my wheels do flex quite a bit). The bike is also pretty heavy.

I was thinking about searching ebay/craigslist/my lbs for an older S1 or Caad9 frame, and switching over the components from my allez/selling the frame. I think going for a high quality aluminum frame over a mid level carbon frame would be the better option.

BUT, I am looking for other options, so what would you upgrade (after the wheels), and why?

I am in the same predicament with my 2009 Allez. I'm a college student who is low on upgrade-cash and need new toys for my Allez. Wheels would be my first upgrade, I wouldn't worry about weight.

I would purchase a HR/Cad cyclocomputer and export training data to the computer.

Although transferring training data to the computer would be nice, it isn't one of my priorities at this time. I want to focus on having a nicer overall ride. This is the 6'th year ive been riding this bike, and as i am getting more serious about riding, I would like to ride a bike that performs better than how mine does now.

I would not worry too much about weight. It could be very costly to drop a pound or two off your bike. However, that pound or two off your body will probably give you better results. How much do you weigh and how tall are you?

Decent wheels are a good place to start. If you don't like your saddle, consider switching it out with something that's more comfortable. If you really want to get faster and can commit yourself to it, a powertap is going to be the best upgrade.

You have a good start with the wheels. Ride it until parts wear out and replace/upgrade accordingly. You can change your seatpost to Thomson, if you really want to change something .

I got a set of Neuation M28 AERO 3s and they made a huge difference on my entry level Felt F90, you will like the Neuvations, they roll very well.

Ok, I guess I will see how the new wheels feel, maybe get a new saddle, and then I'll see if I still feel the need to upgrade. Thanks for the advice!
