What are some high end, less known brands?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

i've not bought their bike nor have i seen one but i have bought their saddle and stem and wheels and so far they have all been good stuff and half the price of other component brands.

How stiff are the wheels? Thats my only bug-bear on getting them. I want Fulcrums R1 stiffness on a paupers budget

I think they are stiff but take what I say with a pinch of salt. I'm not very experienced with wheels and my previous set are noodly bottom of the range shimano r500. They are very much stiffer than those and i did some tests on my bike to compare them. the r500 would bang on the brakes every stroke going up a steep hill standing but on the pro-lite bracciano wheels they didn't. I then narrowed the brakes more to see how narrow before they banged on them and they still didn't to the point where i wouldn't set them any nearer. I got mine for £250 here and that's with VAT.

I wasn't conflake urinating. Just wondering why he/she wants to know, is it:

a. I'd love to have a high performance bike, but I don't want what everyone else has, or,
b. I don't have any of the big-name dealers in my town, what else should I be looking for?

Seemed like a fair follow-up to a question that had no context.

BTW, I guess it escaped your attention that I provided an answer in my signature line.
