Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A wise decision. You can't go wrong the Air Chuck. Test it in the garage before you try it on the road. It is easy but is always good to practice.

Interesting... It looks like you have to screw it on the valve, then screw the cartridge in to activate. Have you used it yet? How well does it work?

that is exactly how it works. I have been using them for years and never had any issues.

Don't forget: Co2 permiates through bitumen tubes. After your ride home on a repair, deflate your tube all the way and re-inflate it with air via your floor pump.

There's a company call Red Rock Minnesota that's mentioned upthread. The link to their page is:

https://www.redrockminnesota.com/serv...ges/Categories

Also mentioned upthread is the fact that they sell on Ebay also. However, if you purchase directly from them as opposed to their Ebay store, you'll save a couple of bucks.

I use this one, got it from my LBS for around $10. It has work for me and has the little foam holder.

You also get a life time warranty with the Air-Chuck. I had to use it when my o-ring wore out.

+1 on CO2 dispensers. I use the Ultrainflate from GI. It's larger because it has a chamber to hold the cartridge and protect my hand from the freeze.
I recently helped a fellow cyclist to inflate her tire because her mini pump didn't work. 12g was enough to get her to her destination.

fwiw, since i found the lezyne pump i only use co2 if i'm really in a hurry or a group is waiting on me. with the quality and ease of use of the lezyne you never have to worry about having enough air, or replacing carts. just a thought.

you do realize this thread is from 5 years ago, right?

but while on the subject, I have heard that these combo pump/CO2 units are not that good for either application. Any actual experience??

Yes, I paid $15 for fifteen 16g threaded cartridges from Red Rock on ebay. If you buy their Buy Now lots, they charge slightly more (maybe $18-20), but they usually have a lot that is up for bidding which starts at $15, and I was the only bidder on the lot I bought.

The news is that it might have actually worked!!

The truth is that the "advanced search" works really well, while the basic search is a piece of crap. I don't quite understand why it has not been fixed.
