BF was clearly an inspiration for this article.

Yaniel 07-23-10 02:48 PM

I think you're wrong. The Onion is a very creditable news source, right up there with Fox News.

JRonaTrek 07-23-10 02:59 PM

My apologies then.

wonder why no one else has reported on this.

Because you are not supposed to post spoilers here! Now you did it! :innocent:

JRonaTrek 07-23-10 03:15 PM

As of Friday morning, French police had no concrete clues as to the identity of the hit-and-run driver. Greg LeMond and Floyd Landis have accounted for their whereabouts at the time of the incident, though police have not yet ruled them out as possible suspects. However, Interpol officials said they may have detected a pattern in recent international sporting events.

Trying hard to find the humor

SteelCan 07-23-10 03:47 PM

Seems they left the job to spoof the TdF to their least imaginative writing team.
Could have been sooo much better. (I am sure BF could have done a better job)

damn you beat me to it!

MDfive21 07-23-10 03:48 PM

tho i'd bet that landis is more likely to be the victim of a hit and run than the perpetrator.

ILUVUK 07-23-10 03:59 PM

Usually The Onion does a much better job than this. I only found the last two sentences to be funny.

Bacciagalupe 07-23-10 04:05 PM

Unfortunately, it's a little too close to a real incident for my tastes....

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24943229/

And yes, that incident was beaten to death on BF when it happened.

Looks like they just cut and pasted from BF....

Daytrip 07-23-10 06:24 PM

^^^^I think that's the point. Subtle.

flaco 07-23-10 06:38 PM

I thought this one from a couple years ago was much funnier.

Daytrip 07-23-10 07:03 PM

I agree, much funnier. But as someone said, I think you could pretty much lift the hit-and-run one from the 41--though I didn't see any references to shooting out his back window with your 9mm or kicking his side-view mirror off.

Terex 07-23-10 07:13 PM

Even by BF standards, it was very weak. And those guys get paid?

you would be correct.

nycphotography 07-23-10 07:23 PM

The Onion was funny for about two weeks back in 1996 before geek irony was completely worn out.

Blackdays 07-23-10 07:25 PM

That article fails.

thebchessl 07-23-10 07:27 PM

My daughter thinks Andy Schleck is cute but after the language he used in the quote I wouldn't let her date him.

CyciumX 07-23-10 07:41 PM

Of few of you guys are making me work hard at my analytical skillz to decipher if you are truly this ignorant, but entertaining either way.
