Hahahahahaha!!!!
Just kidding.
Actually, I got my first puncture on them w/ 2300+ miles on them. Not too bad, huh? They are starting to develop a "flat"-ish cross section, though... Darn good tires, if you ask me.

I haven't found any better tires. Now I need a new set. I have 700X25 but all the websites that sell them only have the Chili compound tires available in 700X23. I bought 25s because of improved ride quality, but now I am thinking of buying the 23s because of the Chili compound.

I have the gator skins and like them too. I had to replace one last week and was going to go with the 4000 but the LBS was out. Not sure how much difference there is anyway??

GP4000's and Schwalbe Ultremo's are my favorite tires.
However, I do use Serfas Seca RS every now and then. They are amazing tires for the price, and come in fun colors!

Someone needs to post a picture of a CAAD9 with Psimet wheels, SRAM, Thompson seatpost/stem, GP 4000s tires, white bar tape/saddle, stem flipped, fork cut, etc...
I'm convinced that GP4000s are the new CAAD9 BF answer.

Switched from Skins to 4000s. Ride quality is night and day better. The Skins made me feel beat up after even 20 miles. The 4000s roll so much smoother. I'd never go back.

Anyone know if there is a difference between the 4000 and 4000s tires, both have "chili".

Somebody said Vredestrians were better, on another thread. It boils down to what works for you. For me riding on crappy surfaces, sometimes missing my bunny hops and go-arounds, riding over some goatheads and glass shards, the 4000s w/ black chili are very good tires to about 2500+ miles for me. I have no idea why prices are much cheaper in the UK, I thought America was supposed to be the world's leading trader nation. Not so in bike stuff, from a consumer perspective, I guess.
Vredestrians might be better... but I'm riding comfortably, flats are infrequent, I get good traction, 205 g is light for a clincher, I'm not feeling I need something "better". I'm amenable to change, but right now 4000s are working very nicely.

But if you get COLORED 4000, you lose the chili....if you get black no real difference.

Chili is their special rubber blend, here is the write up it: https://www.conti-online.com/generato...kchili_en.html
On a side note, I have had a pair for less then 200 miles and the side walls have splits in them, one on the front and one on the back. Has any one had this problem, anything I can do to prevent it from happening again? They are great tires and will probably get them again unless some one convinces me I should go with something else.

I had to change tires to new wheels a few days ago and my Conti GP4000s are really hard to get on the new wheels. I was talking to a guy that is a big Michelin fan and told me that he won't ride with anything but the Pro Race 3 tires. I am considering giving them a try but it seems as if the Conti GP4000s are more popular in this forum.
Any used both the GP4000s and Pro Race 3?
