What its like to ride with Pro's, and what not to call Frank Schleck

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What its like to ride with Pro's, and what not to call Frank Schleck

I just read one of the best articles I've read in a long time about a few guys on the Zipp Dealer Advisory board that got to ride with Team CSC, even if it is a year or two old.

Quite interesting to read about Frank Schleck's temper
CSC riders hail from 19 countries. Some speak no English. Some speak it as a 3rd or 4th language. Maybe, just maybe, it was the language barrier that made nearly everyone ignore them completely. But Schleck is fluent in English, and he was already enraged with his bike. "Did you hear that?" he hollered to no one in particular. "Did you hear that? They called us ******s!" He said it two more times, his furor hotter and louder each time. He spoke in flawless English, and as the rest of started rolling straight through the now-green light -- the Chevy took a left at the intersection -- Schleck hit his brakes in an attempt to turn. "I'm gonna kick their ****ing ass…"

I just noticed for the first time that those pancakes are actually cooked and browned to perfection. Almost like they are photoshopped.

Thanks for the link-I always read the competitive cyclist 'whats new' blog but I somehow missed this one.

Definitely one of the best ones.

this looks shopped, I can tell by the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my time.

Never thought about it, but they're awfully small pancakes compared to the bunny, too.

The Schleck brothers are cursed:
"But as we wrapped up our ride -- literally with less than a mile to go -- his Dura Ace rear derailleur blew up. It was a slight downhill all the way to the hotel, so he slowly coasted/drifted back to the 2 team cars that followed us. It was barely a minute later when he rode back up beside me, then we braked at a red light. You could tell he was pissed. It's only the kindness of fate that blows up your bike a mile from the end of a training ride and not a mile short of a mountain top finish at le Tour."

I thought that was oddly prophetic, although not the right brother.

Great article, I hadn't seen it before.
