Giro Pneumo :)
Well,
I had a coupon from my SD Midnight fun ride a few weeks ago for 20% off anything @ REI minus bikes, skis, ski boots, suunto products, and oakleys. I was originally looking for a saddle, but sadly enough, they didn't have the Fizik Arione in stock, so I was going to get a Giro Atmos (i dunno...cf kinda entices me lol) but didn't carry those either. So I went with the Giro Pneumo which was $140. The coupon brought it down to $112, and I had my dividends from last year of about $150, so the final price ended up being free :D. They only had Carbon, so I might return it at a later date for an exchange for pearl/blue. I used it for about 2 hours today. I'm coming off of the Giro Transit which I paid like $18 for at Performance. The rocloc4 thing on the pneumo is alot more snug (but not tight) than what's on the Transit. Also, it's noticeably lighter. Going down hills with the Transit, i'd have to constantly re-adjust once i got to the bottom as the drag from the wind would push my helmet back, no matter how I adjusted it. Pneumo was completely different. I didn't have to fidget around once to readjust the position. The vents are very nice as well :) Head stayed much cooler than usual, and if I had an itch, it was easier to find a spot to stick my finger into to scratch it which is a big plus for me :p overall, it's a very nice helmet imho. I dunno if I would have plunked down 140+tax or shipping for it, but it was kinda hard to beat the "free" price tag. I can definitely see the advantages over a lower end model. Better fit, better ventilation, better (personal opinion) design, and more scratchability :) For under $100 final cost, i'd highly recommend it :) melloboy |
