I am looking for recommendations for a handlebar with features from both Deda 215 Anatomic and Shallow, DOULBE grooves, ROUND bend, FLAT hood, and availability about 40 cm width. My problem would be solved if Anatomic has round bend (for easier reach) or Shallow has flat hood support (instead of sloping down, unless the bar is tilted ugly upward. Other words, I would like the bar to be flat or horizontal on top and bottom portions of the reach, just like Anatomic. I also prefer the old 26 mm as opposed to 31 mm but will go to 31 mm if necessary. Also, I am looking for an 80 mm threadless stem (1 1/8"). I like Deda 26 but only Deda 31 comes in 80 mm. Thanks for your help.

Thanks. The bends look good but neither one has double grooves for Campy Ergo shifters. I like the Deda 215 Shallow except for the sloped transition to the hoods. I often ride on the hoods and would like the transition to be flat.

3T Ergonova, or FSA Omega (as cheap version). As for stems, I quite like the 3T stems and/or Thomson.

im looking at the 3T stuff as well as it gets a lot of solid comments. i never noticed the style of my current bar one way or the other. its the Easton EA50 is more of an ergo bend i guess. not sure how moving to a more classic style bend will or will not effect me. later.

I don't understand the absolute need for double grooves? I have ran Campy and Sram on those bars for years.

Also, if you can't make the transition from bar to shifter flat on a Deda shallow, you need to work on it a bit. Those bars (either the 215 or the Newton) are perfect for flat transitions to Campy levers. I currently have Deda Newton, Ritchey WCS Classic, Easton EC90 Equipe Pro Classic, Rotundo Team, and Control Tech Vento bars on bikes with either Campy or Sram.... they all are classic drops and all have flat transitions to their hoods. (Without tilting the bottom of the bars up)

Currently I have a Deda 285 Anatomic which is a heavier version of 215. The double grooves just makes it neater for Campy cabling. For the Anatomic, the transition to the hoods is flat. Although I have never used the Shallow type but on the pictures I've seen, the transition slopes down towards the hoods. Perhaps it's not as bad as I think. But without actually mounting the Ergo shifters to try it out, it's hard to say. And to aham23, I believe classic bend gets you closer to the brake levers from the drops as compared to the ergo/anatomic bends.

Cable grooves are way overrated. I have SRAM levers on a 3T Rotundo; 3T doesn't sell any bars that I know of with cable grooves, at least for the aluminum versions. Good lever placement on the Rotundo leaves a very slight dip; It doesn't bother me, and I'm generally a fan of flat transitions. But everyone is different, and if you need a perfectly flat transition to the hoods, the Ergonova is a better choice for you out of the 3T bars. It's an "ergo" bend, but a relatively round one. There are no flat sections.

Other than that, the only thing that comes immediately to mind is the Deda 215 Deep bar, which is not actually all that deep (pretty close to the 3T Rotundo) and should allow you to get the hoods nice and flat. And, of course, it has grooves.

3t Ergosum Pro for the bars,

Shallow-ish drop, decent reach provides a flat ramp without having to tilt the bars upwards (making it impossible to get into the drops) and they have a pretty profile. Forget the cable grooves - tape your cables so that they make a comfy ellipse for your finger joints.

Ritchey WCS for the stem - for the less aggressive 6 degree tilt (most seem to be 8 degrees).

Deda Newton deep bend bars have the flat tops, but leave you with a bit more reach than the shallows. I have the Newton shallow bars. While it's not quite 100% flat on the tops-hoods transition, especially if you like the drops at/near parallel to the ground, it's never been an issue for me.

Why not go with a 3T stem if you are doing a 3T bar? They are 6* also.

I thought the Deda Anatomic has a flat transition until I took another look. It's not as flat as I thought and I have been using it for over 10 years! I am comfortable with the setup except the Anatomic portion where there is a bit of stretch to the brakes. I think the Shallow with round bend will decrease the distance to the brakes. Perhaps I was wrong about the Shallow having a steeper slope to the hoods. Perhaps the downward slope to the hoods is the same for the Shallow as well as the Anatomic.

I have FSA Omega bars, and with the new Campy 11 levers, there is a nasty bulge where the hood meets the bar. I'm thinking of switching to the 3T Ergonova to eliminate this bulge, without increasing the reach. Do the 11 speed levers work with the 3Ts without the bulge?

The Deda Newton deep bars are great with the Campy levers (nice flat transition), but the reach is too much for me.

Yes, it's the same. Plus, you could roll those bars (and the Newtons) up a tad to get the drops more parallel to the ground and be even more flatter on top.
