Ksyrium Elite Wheels on sale at Performance

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ksyrium Elite Wheels on sale at Performance

Just a quick heads-up - a couple of weeks ago I bought a set of Elite wheels from Performance for about $625. Found out yesterday that the same wheels are on sale for $419. Went to Performance and they price matched for a savings of over $200. Yay. I was so happy that I bought another set.
The SL's are also on sale for $699.

Damn, Performance is having some really good deals this week. It's also double points weekend for those with a Performance card.

I think I'm in for a set. Might run them cyclocross! Need some good wheels so I will have fewer excuses for just being old n slow.

Hunt-man, where were you you when I was living in West Linn (one place got flooded, but feeding ducks and geese was great), then Lake Oswego, and riding across to Hillsboro and beyond?

While they are bomb proof their hubs need maintenance. I trashed my free hub body by ignoring that fact.
That and they tend to be a bit on the heavy side and excessively pricey IMHO.
If I had to do it all over again I would have had a set of wheels built instead of picking up the Elites.
Still... I could have done a lot worse.

The new Elites are actually a pretty nice wheel. They are an actual 1560 grams and have steel spokes. So they ride a lot nicer than the SLs while still having nice lateral stiffness.

Might want to check with Performance though. The wheels shown on teh website are the older Elites.... the new ones have different hubs. They might in fact have the 2010 models that they are shipping... and just have the wrong picture. The new ones are a lot nicier than the old models.

Competitive Cyclist has the 2010 Elites on sale for $465 incase these ones from Performance are in fact the older model.

The 09/10 models shaved some weight and 1550g isn't bad for an all around wheelset, what I agree with is the fact they're overpriced. I have a pair that I bought off a friend when he bought a Hed wheelset so I didn't pay anywhere near retail; scoring them off e-Bay is another good option.

1996? You must have lived on River Street or Nixon? Only two that I remember flooding in the 1996 flood. I was living in Oregon City and flying cargo planes. Only bike I had was a 30lb steel MTB that I never rode.

Move back, we'll ride.

It was a mile or so up from the Willamette River.

Before that we rented a cabin on the Rogue River northeast of Grant's Valley.

And bought a US Senator's home on 1917 E Main Street in Medford. We didn't really own it it, we were just making payments.

When you're a doctor, you get to do all kinds of fun stuff. But you have to work really hard to get to it. It takes a long time.

That sucks. I payed $300 for a front Elite wheel because my other one was fubar. I would have just bought two for just a little bit more!

I ordered a set of the Ksyrium SL's. The online Performance rep told me the SL's were 09's. Anyways, I can't wait to get them. They shipped today!

For that price it doesn't matter what year they are they're still going to be great wheels.
