Pump for Jersey Pocket???
Whats up guys, i'm looking to get a small pump to carry with me on my rides. I have a 16g c02 cartridge and inflator head but i wanna get a pump as a backup in case the c02 ever fails on me. I've been riding longer and longer distances thus me going farther from home. If something happens and for whatever reason my c02 head fails i'd be SOL. I have a small saddle bag and its already filled to capacity so i'm looking for a small pump i can throw in my jersey pocket for my rides. I know i can't get maximum psi out of small hand pumps but if i were to the point i'd be using it all i'd be concerned about is making it home.
If anyone has any good recommendations for a small pump please let me know. Not looking to spend a lot of money but if need be for a quality one i can shell out more. Thanks |
Leyzne makes a few pumps that could be thrown in a pocket, I guess, but they can be easily and unobtrusively mounted to the frame.
Oh, and they happen to work well. |

I've got one of the Lezynes (http://www.amazon.com/Lezyne-Pressur.../dp/B001T7RSA8). Pocket or bottle cage mount. GL

Nashbar Stage 2 works great for me.

do any of these actually inflate to 100 PSI without having to break your arm in the process?

http://www.topeak.com/products/Mini-Pumps/MicroRocketCB It definitely takes a lot of pumping to reach high pressure, but the pump works and it definitely fits in a jersey pocket. |

As for group rides, family schedule means solo mostly. But check the socal threads for rides leaving from the Griffith Park going up through La Canada / Flintridge / Pasadena, etc. |

Oh, hey neighbor. Didn't realize that! What do you ride, in case I see you?

San Fernando Valley Bicycle Club is kind of nearby. http://www.sfvbc.org/

Will any of these fit in a seat bag?
something like this - http://www.nexternal.com/icycles/images/basicplus.jpg |
+1 for the Topeak Micro Rocket. I didn't know it came in a carbon version though....
|
I just ordered a Leyzne pressure drive S. Has a hose so you can crank away without snapping your valve stem. Goes up to 120 PSI, supposedly.
I'll be trying to fit it in my seat bag, but it may end up in my jersey pocket. |

I have only used mine to seat the tire before using co2. I almost dread the day when I have to use it as a backup when I am out of co2. ;)

The Topeak Mini Morph works well for me but having seen the Lezyne high pressure pump I'll go that route when my Mini Morph needs replacing.

In one of the Amazon comments about the lezyne, they said, "I ordered the 90g but got the 103g.". I can't find a 90g version anywhere.
Anyone? |

I recommend this but in Aluminum (save some cash). It's saved my butt a few times. Heck it even fits inside the seat tube! (Don't forget a hex wrench though if you do that.)
