Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not to be a safety nanny, and I don't know the dynamics of your group, but is all that over-the-yellow-line passing common in your group? That'll get you yelled at here by everyone, unless it's a closed course.

It generally gets you yelled at in ou group too but in the sprint people end up doing it anyway. My opinion is that was the biggest contributor to the crash.

The question is...is that rule included in the "we're gonna yell at you..." thread?

+100 on the Clif Bars. The wrapper gently tumbling away was pure cinematic genius.

Your wife loves you!

PS - make sure that Clif Bar gives you more 'royalties' if they use your film!

I was surprised the lead-out rider just stuck to the center of the road like that... our normal procedure is the lead-out waits for an opening with no traffic on a long straight and drops out well into the oncoming lane or the shoulder if it's wide enough (or if there's traffic). Either way the point is to be away from the group when you pull off so there's only one side they can go on.

I agree that people going left around him over the yellow was a big factor... you really had zero chance to see him because if it.

I imagine they would taste the same, but I probably won't find out until the weekend.

I saw a comment somewhere, I think it was podium cafe, where someone said something like that they couldn't believe I turned my garmin off after the crash...
