Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My bikes get a 3 month pass for life in the living room. After that, they are banished to hang in the garage.

One bedroom apt over here so it stays behind the couch. My wife said I could keep it inside if I moved the AR-15 from the corner. Haha

All of them hang in the garage. They are hung from the ceiling by the wheels using the big rubberized hooks bought at HD.

I do go the extra mile in double wrapping the hooks with a non marring electrical tape and measure the distance of the bars from the stem so they hang straight down and don't rub the bar tape/wall. Very easy, cheap and efficient in order to keep walking room in the garage around the cars.

Just tell her you'd be happy to store it in the garage. And when it gets stolen, you'd be just as happy to go buy the next model up in Litespeed's catalog. I'm sure she'll be happy to share some living space with it.

Is it bad to store bikes in a non climate controlled garage? I keep my girlfriend and I's bikes in our garage which can get pretty hot in this scorching texas summer. My bike is alu while my gf's is carbon if that makes any difference.

My garage is like a little man cave. All bikes live in my man cave.

In my office at home. In the garage it would be exposed to too many changes in heat/humidity. Probably not good for a (steel-frame) classic Ciocc.

I keep mine in a dehumidified basement. I left it down there last year without a dehumidifier and one of the cables and bosses developed rust. It's been fine this year so far with the dehumidifier, but I've also been riding a lot more. Since we have a small house the only other option is the outside shed. In my bachelor days, I used to keep it proudly displayed in my apartment living room.

condo here. Two bikes stay in my bedroom, hung on a Delta rack (one that leans, no wall installation or anything).

The third bike (beater) lives outside on the porch (3rd floor). The frameset that's about to get disassembled will live under the dining room table until I sell it. Not sure where the 4th (probably a CX bike) or the 5th (a track race bike) will live. Probably in the living room somewhere. No more room in my bedroom, except maybe one more.

Not in the garage, too much sawdust in there (though there are parts of 1 in the garage, the fork needs replacing and the frame needs a visit to a local framebuilder for an opinion and possible straightening). Got 3 in the first room you walk into when you come into the house, 2 in the family room, 2 in my bedroom, my son has 3 in his room, and my daughter has 1 in her room.

Electrical tape? Sounds like wrapping the hooks in bar tape would be better.

Garage. Used to be kitchen, but that was pissing me off, so I bought a house with a garage.

Really, seriously, is a non climate controlled garage bad for a bike?

Only if you are overly anal-retentive, it's a bicycle for crying out loud.

To the OP, in the garage on a hook, along with both of our mountain bikes, and her road bike.
