Another Rolf Prima thread...Does Rolf charge a lot to rebuild?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Another Rolf Prima thread...Does Rolf charge a lot to rebuild?

I've decided to get a powertap for my rolf prima vigor rs rear wheel but of course that is going to mean an entirely new wheel will be needed.
At least that is what the rolf prima people are recommending. Well, my rear wheel is already 3 years old so I guess it would be safer to have a new rear wheel.

So the cost of a powertap pro+ with a new rear vigor rs is going to cost about $1600.00
And I'm seriously thinking of sending in my front wheel for a complete wheel service.

I'm guessing around $2000.00 plus for all of this. With that amount of money should I simply buy a new wheelset from them? Is there a cheaper way to go here?

The rolf prima vigor rs wheelset has been great to me. It's light, aero, tough, and gets the job done. But should I be looking for something else now?

Advice?

Welllllll....my experience with Rolf, which is quite extensive, confirms that they are quite pricey when it comes to fixing or rebuilding a wheel.

I would look into having someone else do the work. I mean...why buy an entire wheel when you aren't going to use the most expensive part - the hub? I would imagine that there are solid wheel builders out there that could source the proper spokes and build the wheel with your Powertap and current rim. Then, you could sell the hub and old spokes to offset some of the cost.
