2006 Trek SL 1500
Hello there,
I've decided to take the plunge and get my first road bike. I've been looking around at my LBS and am flirting with the idea of going used due to the costs. Any thoughts?
Also, I found a 2006 Trek SL 1500 (58cm) on craiglist about 30 miles away and want to seek your opinion on it. Here is the description:
2006 Trek SL 1500 Frame + Many Newer Components

How much are they charging..
How tall are you..
You need to get some fitting done before you fork over any cash. Don't buy anything until you're sure it will fit you properly. Thus, one of many benefits of buying your first bike from an LBS.

I bought this same bike new and rode it for 4 years until i recently upgraded to a TCR Advanced SL. It's a great starter bike. But the bike spec'd above does not match mine. Why are the shifters different models? Why is the stem cannondale? I had to replace my rear wheel when it began to crack but that is it and I put 15K miles on it. What happened to this bike that so many things were replaced. I wouldn't pay more than $300 for my bike now, it was only $1050 new.

$700 is way too much money for that bike. Besides, judging by the amount of the cockpit that's been replaced, I'm guessing it's been crashed at least once.
