I got over 3500 miles on my rear GP4000S, then moved the front to the back, and put on a new front. No punctures. I've picked out tiny slivers of glass that didn't go through the protective belt. They seem to have a lot more grip on the corners than my old Michelin Krylions.

However, I've seen two other posts lately with unexplained sidewall splits. Of course, there's a lot of forum readers using GP4000 tires, so who knows.

I am currently running some tires from a store on ebay. Nice bike tires .com . Cst is the brand name on them although I cant remember the model, it is not the csar. They are produced by chen chin co. They have a kevlar belt. and roll way better than the bontrager race lights and conti. 3000's they replaced. They were $42.00 shipped to the door for a pair. have them on 3 bikes. good milage too, about 2000 miles on the rear before replacing the first one I bought. They rock.

I got a sidewall blowout on a GP4000 25mm-wide at 1400 mi. Otherwise, the 4000S 23's seem to be flat-immune to about 2400ish mi, keep an eye on the wear dimples, and either replace when they look near-obliterated, or wait til you get a couple close-in-time punctures. I've ridden Vittorias, Specialized, Panaracers that come to mind, these contis are nice tires, to me. YMMV.

well, gp4000 by a wide margin, rubino pros have a lot of fans, and pro 3's are at least moderately popular.

I have worn out a lot of GPs in my life, and I decided a while ago that I did not like the way that they cornered (wear is way, way up there. I have had 'em die from ozone deterioration before the tread ever let go). GP 4000's are pricey, but I suppose that price could be offset by the mileage increases. If I am on a tubular tire, it is most likely from Continental. Gatorskin is great, I have a pair on the tandem. Finally, Mountain Kings just simply rock. I haven't tried the Rubber Queens, but the feedback that I hear is all good. I just want more road feedback that the GP's give me.

I have a pair of Rubinos on a bike and they seem like nice enough tires, but the wear is not going well.

I have a few sets of Schwalbe Ultremos and Ultremo Rs and I can't find anything bad to say about 'em (save the recalled batch). Kinda pricey.

I was hoping that maybe someone had just discovered the catz pajamas and I didn't know about it yet.

Am stoked with the Conti 4000S, after having not used 23mm tires since the GP 3000. The Vittoria Open Pavé Evo CG is another fav. One tire I really miss is the Michelin PR2 25 (27mm actual width).

I just ordered a pair of Conti 4000s from PBK for $31 or 32 I think. They had a double discount, and I used a coupon code for an additional 5% discount. No shipping or taxes. They were in pairs, so you have to buy 2 to get the good price. Not sure if the offer is still active, but if your interested, you might check them out.

I used to ride these and am glad I switched to the Conti GP4000s...they have better road feel and great durability with no cuts or flats after 2500+ miles. Rear tire probably has another few hundred miles left, front still has a bit of the center ridge...so maybe 10% worn...? The Krylions are decent, but I won't go back now...no point.

For long wearing clinchers I've become a big fan of Maxxis Re-Fuse, for super fast, light, and comfy you realy can't go wrong with Veloflex Pave or Blacks. Conti GP 4000S are always good, as are (surprisingly enough) Panaracer Evo 2's. Of course, those two are clinchers and I very rarely ever ride clinchers anymore. For tubies, I'm currently running a Challenge Criterium in the front and a Challenge Vulcano in the rear, and this is due to coming upon a high end and low end tire at the same time. The Criterium is horrible; it's weak and not very soft given the TPI count even for a race only application. The Vulcano, on the other hand, is fantastic; at 270 grams it's comparable to other lightweights; it is only a 220 tpi tire, but it is also 23mm (even though it is advertised as a 22MM) this lends to the suppleness of the tire. I've also used Conti Sprinter Gatorskins, they are virtually bulletproof, but they are VERY slow rolling.

I like these.

As far as I know, the 4000 was pre-black chilli compund, but I may be wrong.

I am currently running Conti GP 4 Seasons, Michelin Krylions and Panaracer Extreme Duro Protex on different wheels to see which I like best. The Continental are my favorite so far which is unfortunate since I paid the most for them. But Panaracers are a close second and they were the cheapest. No flats yet with any of them. In comparison with the other 2 it seems I have to inflate the Krylions to a point where they ride jittery before they feel as fast.

Michelin Pro Race 2. Have about 7 sitting new in my garage. don't plan to switch any time soon
