You should never try to correct reach with saddle adjustment. Saddle position is selected for pedaling mechanics and weight distribution, and bars are placed wherever they need to be to get the desired reach from that position.

Hi umd.

I made a mistake...my current stem is only 100mm.
And, as I said before, I felt a little stretched on it.

So hopefully, the 90mm stem Shimano Pro Stealth Evo I bought will be more comfortable.

Bought a Fizik Aliante Carbon Braided Saddle,
and have decided to go with a zero offset seatpost.
The only question there is Carbon VS Aluminum.
:D

The bar will be in Wednesday. I'll definitely give my impression of it.
If it doesn't work out for me, I'll go for a K-Wing with my Bontrager XXX Lite OS.

Thanks for all the advice from everybody. :thumb:

I've broken carbon and aluminum bars. The only difference is that the aluminum ones are cheaper to replace...

How did you make that determination that you need a zero offset post?

I mispoke...what I meant to say was that I wasn't going to go with a more laid back seatpost than the one I have now.
The Fizik Cyrano's offset is pretty much no different as my stock Cannondale
(25mm for both with the Cyrano being adjustable from 15mm-25mm).

I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up with a Fizik Cyrano to keep things in the family.
If there was some definitive evidence that there was a comfort benefit to carbon,
I'd go with it for sure.

Plus, I'm pretty sure that my next bike will be a full carbon machine and will more likely than
not have an integrated seat mast so I won't be transferring the post to the new rig.

In...

It's not a full carbon bar, but an aluminum bar wrapped in carbon.

Nice fat flat bar top...looks like it's going to be super comfortable.

They go on in a couple of days.

Will report with what I think.

Out...

Sent the Stealth Pro back.
It wasn't the EVO (which is full carbon).
This model was a carbon wrapped aluminum bar.

But, I ordered what I originally wanted, an FSA K-Wing Compact 44cm Bar.
They should be on my bike by Saturday.
Grab a Kleenex and enjoy.

Wow. Whoever said that there's no difference between carbon and aluminum bars needs to have their hands examined!

I installed my Bontrager Race XXX Lite OS Stem and my FSA K-Wing combo on my bike and what a revelation.

The difference in weight was noticeable as was how the bike tracked.
It flowed, it was seemless and my bike rode better WITHOUT bar tape and without
gloves than it did with the previous OEM set up (Cannondale C3 Bar & C4 Stem).

Every week, its like I get a new bike with each upgrade
(last week, saddle/this week, groupset & cockpit).

The Bonty stem & FSA bar combo look like they were made for each other...identical color scheme.
Tonight, I tape it and will post before and after pics.
Marinate on that until tonight.

The only question remaining is do I leave the flat top of the K-Wing exposed so I can have that great view of
all that beautiful carbon or do I do the reasonable thing and tape it to give myself a more comfortable perch?

Decisions, decisions...

:D
