So I bought this road bike...
 

About a week ago I picked up a 1995 Cannondale R500 from my LBS. This being my first road bike, I wanted to get some opinions from this pool of experienced cyclist.

I had been in the market for a road bike, but didn't want to break my budget. I spent a little over $400.00 on it. The LBS took it on a trade. They totally overhauled it and it looks brand new. It helps too that it was a perfect fit for me.

I'm wanting to train for a century for next year. I was just curious if this bike would serve me well for this or not.

hey, you have a well respected brand name bike that fits you perfectly and has been fully tuned for 400ish - thats a great deal. the biggest thing a bike needs to be able to do a century on is a good fit. sounds like you're there. go do some riding analog!

Within the week I have done a few things. I bought a cheap computer, got another bottle cage and put a pair of Eggbeaters on. I really wanted a pair of Speedplays, but didn't have the cash to buy another pair of shoes (my mtb bike has Eggbeaters too).

rock on! Bike looks great. $400 is a great deal if the bike is in great running shape (as it appears).

Nice bike. C'dale wrote the book on Aluminum road bikes (Maybe Klein too) and you got a good deal.
When the time comes, step up to a carbon fiber frame w/ ultegra stuff..........you will never look back.
