My Century today
This was my century today and it was fun. Took the day off from work and good day little warm at the end but most flat, few rolling hill nothing that required be to go the small ring on my compact. The old runner still runs but this is much better than pushing 20 milers I use to do when I was doing marathons. Will be good to go back to running for a few days.
In any case I was really pleased I passed the 100 mile mark on the bike computer in 5:18 my 3rd century ever ( all this year) and my fastest. I went through 4 bottles and one can of diet coke. I stop for only 10 minutes total and eat 15 fig newtons and was pretty thirsty at the end but I was 8 miles from home so I just keeped going knowing I was ok. So here it is, and I feel really pretty good http://connect.garmin.com/activity/45834246 |
Some pretty impressive avg speeds for your 3rd century!! Great job...
|
Great job! Not sure about 7,000 calories burnt, though.

Diet Coke,
Jeeze. If your on your bike & in the gas station, go for the real stuff. 15 fig newtons!! Freakin' dry as Gandi's flip flop:lol: |
No those calories things I ignore garmin does not have that correct. As for diet coke, I say have food for calories and save the drink calories for some decent beer this evening. I like fig newtons and they are easy to eat, they allow the body to request water which is a good thing. In my many marathons I simply take water and no food at all, I don't even use gatorade I hate the stuff. If I properly load the muscle with glycogen I am usually good for 80 miles but on the century I take the calories need them the last hour.

Wow! I'm a new cyclist and hoping to do my first century in Savannah on Sep 5. You're a beast! 29 mph??!! I haven't even had my bike up to that speed yet (but the largest hill in the county is the 8th tee at my golf course). Average speed is very impressive to a newbie like me.

Good job and yes, impressive avg. speed. 4 bottles of Diet Coke though...
I'll probably take a few days off in the fall to do the same. |
Oh, no I drank Crystal Light that was watered down pretty good so basically 4 bottle of water and one 12 oz can of diet coke.

good job. sounds like a good day.
