Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What Color Should I Paint My Frame

Ok, so my 2007 Marcelo is looking beat up with huge scratches on my top tube from a bad trunk rack, a nasty scratch when a nail went completely through my tire and scrapped the inside of my chain stay, a nice little circle where my water bottle sat after the tab broke on my Tacx Tao, and various chain inflicted wounds.

As a result of all of this, I have decided to have the frame repainted. So I submit my poll to the BF Cogoscenti for consideration.

Samples:
Kandy Orange

Pearl Orange

Oops forgot the frame!

I have the same decision to make. I think I'm gonna choose black with black frame stickers. Stealthy.

FYI - Spectrum Powder Works in Colorado Springs has a large bike photo gallery.

Flames are faster than red!

What if the flames are red?

I think if you paint it with orange it should have white accents somewhere. I've always loved that creamcicle color scheme.

I hadn't considered it. Did you have anything in mind?

Hmmm, I'd consider red flames. That might be nice. The saddle is blue and I have blue Lorica bar tape that I was going to use.

I have the Ouzo as well. Didn't consider painting it (for me) until I saw it on your bike.

I asked you first.

Candy orange but only if you do gloss black accents... otherwise the orange might look busy

Same dilemma here. I have 2 steel frames that need repainting, but the color choices are too many

A nice frame like yours deserves something less pedestrian that what you seem to have in mind. My suggestion is orange with metallic blue panels and white lettering, along these lines.

I've got a purple Calfee Luna Pro with an Alpha Q Sub3 painted to match. The look is very nice but I'm not sure how it would look with orange. I might have to get orange tires or something.

A friend also suggested something along these classic lines. I considered it for a moment but then thought of typical Pegoretti frames and didn't think flames, or anything else for that matter, would be out of line:

I'm with sced. Two reasons. 1) I have an old Holdsworth and 2) this is the only Pegoretti cplour scheme I ever liked:

I hate the ridiculous colour schemes Dario comes up with.
