PB Tent Sale - 8/26 - 8/29
I heard an ad on the radio this morning that all 9 L.A. area PB stores will be having a tent sale this weekend. I looked at the website and the store detail pages show the sale, but no details. Did anyone get any emails or anything that show what's on sale and for how much? I'd like to buy a Bell Volt, but my closest PB is about 40 minutes away and I don't want to drive that far if it's not on sale. I can mail order it for less than their normal price. Thanks for any help.

I heard the same ads, but I don't have any details either. I'd like to pickup a niterider SOL or similar so I can ride in the evenings and commute.
Speaking of helmets, I've been considering the Scattante Spyder as a low-cost alternative to dishing out over $100 to Giro or Bell or LG for a styrofoam cooler with holes in it. They have it on sale for $69 or $79...I tried it on in the store, it's nice, comfy, plenty of vent holes, but maybe a tad on the heavy side. It has a chunk of aluminum molded in which I guess is good for strength. If I needed a helmet I would probably pick one up and try it out. I may do that anyway and stick it in the closet to use in a couple of seasons.

I recall the ads stating that it won't be just store inventory, but warehouse inventory from multiple locations. I dunno, could be hype. But it might be that the stores don't know what will be on sale.

I called the Pasadena store. They don't have any helmets on the "official list", however, some things may be added by the manager at the last minute. He did say it is mostly clearance stuff like Jerseys for $8. May have to go check it out anyway.

I stopped by my local store earlier (Bailey's Crossroads near Falls Church). They had some pretty good stuff and very low prices. Picked up some Michelin Kromion tires for $15/ea. (on sale on the website now for $19), some Pearl Izumi arm warmers and leg warmers at $15/ea, and some (really nice) Pearl Izumi cold weather gloves for $15. I'm going to look like a rolling advertisement for PI but I'll be warm. They hadn't gotten all of the stock out on the shelves yet, so I'm going to stop by the Fairfax store today also.

Well, I went to the Pasadena, CA store and was rather disappointed in the "special deals". One small table outside with very little on it. As long as I was there, I went inside to look at bikes. Of course they had to show me the Scattante's, however, they also showed me a full carbon GT with Rival for $1,699. Thought it was a decent deal. Didn't buy it though. But it was purdy to look at! (Am I going to be called a shill now?)

Went to the Fairfax VA store and got a Park Tool "Third Hand" brake tool for $4. I've never used one, have no idea if it is worth a damn but for $4 I'll try it out. Might make setting toe-in easier. Also got a Park Tool professional hex wrench set for $4.
I noticed that the Michelin Kromions were marked $9.99 at this store. I forgot to mention in my previous post that they're baby blue. $9.99 is great for an everyday/training tire.

In the tents they will sell all the junk nobody even need, and the other stuff has a discount that is not even that good. Basically the tent is for impulsive buyers. I saw the legs/arm warmers for 12 bucks and they suck. I would not pay 5 bucks for them, u can tell they are still making a big chunk of profit with that junk.
I woudl get something descent because for 12 bucks in my opinion the quality is bad.

CrazyGl00 is from Virginia. I didn't see one jersey for sale at the $8 advertised. Many were on sale for $49, but not a one at $8. Maybe they sold out in the two hours before I got there.

AN advice in jerseys and shorts, if you are going to spend 50 bucks in PB, just go to somewhere else and get a good european brand because they will last a lot more and will be way better in the comfort dept. than the 50 bucks PB is selling. Besides for 50+ bucks u can get castelli or other good brand.

Heck, I picked up a Primal Jersey for the wife, two LG long sleeve jerseys, two headsweats fleece beanies, Adidas arm warmers, PI Cyclone Gloves and spent a whopping $19. The wife's Primal was tagged $66.99 and was marked $4 as were the two long sleeve ones.

As an aside though, talked to the one manager I know, he said all the really low prices were last years winter stuff, and onsie/twosie stuff that's seconds and/or discontinued. All was just dumped in boxes and sent into the stores from the warehouse.
Normal line prices applied to the rest and the pricing was manager discretion, so you might find the same thing at two different stores at different prices. I know I did.

Is that a full groupset? I didn't see it online. Is this part of the tent sales in LA?
Edit: Never mind. Found it on the deal of the day.

Which store did you go to? I am local to Winchester and the closest PB I know of is in Reston. If they have stuff that cheap I might make a quick trip down there at lunchtime (I work fairly close to Reston).

I see that's the "Deal of the Day" but wow! As is common when they have a good DotD, it says out of stock, but I might actually call them up and ask if I can still order it and what are the frame details. I know you have to assemble everything yourself (or pay a shop a couple hundred to do it) but that's still one heck of a deal!

I contacted Performance and he said they don't expect to get any more build kits in, so even if you placed an order, it would probably have to be canceled. He said they had 7 in stock at the day's start and they sold out by noon Eastern. All the better for me, I guess.
