What bikes have you purchased off Craigslist?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I purchased a 2007 Specialized Allez Elite last year for $400 to replace my "stolen" Fuji Roubaix. Then I resold it for $750 one week later to fund my 2010 Specialized Allez Elite )

The two Bianchi's in my signature were CL finds. The MTB was off ebay, but advertised as local pick-up only.

I bought a 2002 Bianchi Veloce last year from a guy in Worster, MA. I drove from west PA to Hartford,CT just to see the bike and ride it to see if it was good. I rode it and I was in love. Gave the guy the money ($650) and drove home a happy man.

The only thing I wish i did different was make a stop around NY or CT so I could take a nap and ride the bike more, but I got home about 4-5am dead tired as I walked into my house and passed out.

Just bought a 2009 Specialized Sworks Ruby with SRAM Red (for my wife) off CL last month. Had it shipped from Austin, TX to Indiana. Deal went fine.

Bought a 2009 Specialized Roubaix Pro SL SRAM Red off of Ebay last year. Shipped from AZ to IN. No hitches there either.

Happy with the deals on both of them.

Haven't bought one, but I sold an old Trek Hybrid (7300). It helped to fund new road pedals and shoes

my first fixed gear.

before it comes up, yes those are 650c's
having one unlace on you while riding is insane because the spokes pulled out of the rim. so the rear is a open-pro

Both my Cervelo R3 frameset and Specialized FSR Expert in my sig and this summer bought a 09 Specialized FSR Comp for the gf.

I've also bought and sold a couple other bikes like my old Colnago Bititan on CL.

I bought a scandium rock lobster road frame and fork off ebay, but it was first listed on cl. the price on he listed it for on cl was almost twice what it went for on ebay. I also just bought a ritchey breakaway off cl that had to be shipped. I also bought a frame and fork from roadbikereview.com but the guy took a month to send it.

An unspecified 80's Schwinn frame for a beater. I don't know if I'd trust CL too much but I'm paranoid like that. As it is this one is getting bead blasted so I can check it over and then it's getting powdercoated before I even order the parts to assemble it.

never bought. but I sold my fixed gear on CL a few years ago. Everytime I was interested in buying a bike on craigslist, it was already sold. There must be a lot of CL vultures here in san diego.
