Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have Gatorskin 700x25Cs on my Motobecane Le Champion. There's not a lot of clearance for the rear tire, but it works.

Ti / Red
This ad doesn't show on the BD website for some reason. I stumbled onto it accidentally:

If this is the final product for that is going to be for sale, I think it's a mistake to not offer the Red version with the same outlined logo as the DA version. Cheapens this product a bit, imho. And just how do you "stumble on it accidentally"?

I need some help with sizing a Moto Le Champ Ti. I'm 5'10", with a 34.25" bike position inseam. I currently comfortably ride a 56cm '09 Trek Madone CF. These sloping top tubes are tricky since BD's website shows the C-T measurement of the actual tube not the "virtual" height taking the slope in to account I'm not sure if I'm really a 53 or a 56 with these specs. No mention of stem length on their specs. The Trek top tube falls right in between the the 53 and 56 Moto. I wish they had some in local shops to feel out. Since they don't I'm hoping to get some input from some similar sized owners. My riding style could best be labeled fast recreational/sprint triathlon. I am not a century guy! Thanks

For what it's worth it looks to me like the diagrams do show the horizontal top tube, HOWEVER, it is the horizontal top tube from the head tube to a point whose vertical line intersects the seatpost collar, so not all the way to the seat post. Why they do that is beyond me. But when I asked them for the true effective top tube for the largest size it was significantly longer than what they posted. I would email BD directly and ask them what the measurement is, they can find out for you.

Actually did e-mail them and they rec. the 53cm. It just sounds small and I'm hoping to hear from actual riders before ordering. The more input the better! Thanks

I'm about 5'9" with a 33" inseam (measured according to the instructions here) and I ride a 53 cm. I think you may want to consider the next size up. You can see how much seat post I have showing:

I'm used to a lot of post showing so your 53 looks good Zippy. I did get some quick and well detailed info back from BD regarding stem length (100 for the 53 and 110 for the 56) and 42cm for the 53 bars which works for me so it looks like the 53cm is it. Thanks forum and thanks Chris at BD.

Good luck, Triitout. I got my Motobecane Ti Heat about a week and a half ago and truly am pleased with the 48 cm selection. Fits perfectly, and truly a step up from my 1982 Schwinn Super Sport. I'm 5'5" tall and have a pants inseam of 27.5". Thus the 48 cm choice. Best with your new bike!

I'm 5'7" and got the 48cm. I think I got the right size. You can always get a longer stem or raise the seat if it's on the small side for you.
