Knee pain - what adjustment to fix?
I got a new bike, and my knee starts to hurt around 30 miles into a ride. It's the same frame size as the old bike, same crank arm length, and very similar saddle height and fore/aft. The new saddle is longer, though, so there's more room to move around on a ride; the old one really only had one position.
It's only the left knee, in the front-left corner. It feels like one tendon is rubbing across the bone wrong. I was fine (in this regard) on the old bike, and my cadence is usually 90 to 95, so I'm sure it's a fit issue. I've had pain in the left knee once before, that turned out to be a fit issue and went away completely.
Is this a height issue? Which way? Or is it fore/aft and getting used to the new saddle? If that's it, how do I want to line myself up for long, somewhat hilly rides? The pain isn't that bad, but I can feel it the next day or two, so I'd like to nip this in the bud.

For me that type of pain comes from my saddle being a little to low, and another sign of that is with very fast cadence like 110+ you start to bounce in the saddle a sure sight of a saddle to low.
But everyone id different so take this with a grain of salt : )

Sounds like I need to raise the seat a millimeter or two ( I was hoping the opposite ) and maybe move my cleats in, so that my feet will be further apart on the pedals. I just did a very short ride in walking shoes, with my left foot a little further away from the bike, and it felt better. But this kind of stuff tends to be a small adjustment, followed by a 40 or 50 mile ride to see how it went.
Thanks for helping me find the right direction to move stuff.

I don't really understand front-left corner. If it hurts on the side of your leg, then the seat may be too high. If it hurts in front of your knee the seat may be too low. A few mm can make a big difference. Also make sure that your feet are allowed to move where they want. If your left foot is at the edge of the pedal float range it can be the cause of pain on the side of your knee. Now that you are experiencing pain it may be worthwhile to have someone take a look at your bike fit. It is much easier for someone else to see how your bike fits that you can from sitting on the bike.
