If I can find a jersey on sale for less than $30, I buy plenty. Most of the time I try and watch my LBS for when the put the Specialized jerseys on clearance and clean them out.
|
I have come to the conclusion that most of you wear ugly as sin jerseys.
|
any jersey that is full zip. I have a few and I love them.
|
Lately Ive gotten a few nice jerseys off ebay. For my casual style of riding, they both do the job and look the part.
|
If you know your sizes well- also take a look at geartrade.com - most if it comes from realcyclist.com - people return stuff without tags so they can't either resell it at retail or return to manufacturer- it ends up on their second hand site-- prices drop slowly- I've gotten some good deals there and if it's not as described, you can email them and they'll work with you, either dropping the price or allowing you to return it.
check road bike AND mtn bike apparel as they're sloppy w/ how they classify stuff, but sometimes you can get some pretty high ends stuff for pretty cheap. |
Twin Six makes some great jerseys... I also like the Pro-fit Canari jerseys but that is probably because of the jersey itself...
|
I just got three really cool jerseys from probikekit.com
lots of team wear and plain jerseys that look really good, fit well and functional for good prices. |
Here is one of my, and according to Dr. Banzai, "ugly as sin" favorite jerseys. Worn and washed about 10 time, unfortunately it only fits the old long and lost 300+ mi.--a--week former-serious-me. Its a 1995 size XL Assos, that fits similarly today to a Santini M. I also have an equally well cared for size L Sportful Mapei-GB that also has a practical fit equal to that Assos.
Quiz: What rider inspired these purchases? Hint: he rode a double down tubed ti frame. http://a.imageshack.us/img189/4265/dsc00533j.jpg |

I'm okay with dropping some cash on gear where it makes sense...
I've had really good luck with Giordana (Team) and Assos (SS.Mille). Definitely not the cheapest by any means...but, the question was what is your favorite? I just wish, I could buy a few of each. :D That being said, I do think you get what you pay for...I was hit by a commercial landscaping truck (14,000 GW) while we were both doing about 30mph, I then hit the pavement hard, tucked, rolled, and you can't see a single mark on the Giordana jersey, it looks absolutely brand new. No Joke...My left shoulder had deep bruising and a strained scapula and I'm still in PT (crash was on 7/23), but no rash where I had coverage. This includes my thighs and glutes, where I was wearing Giordana Laser Bibs...it was like wearing leathers. |
Jerseys I own in order of preference: Louis Garneau Lemmon, Santini, Pearl Izumi Quest, Primal Wear. The LG is my favorite by far. Probably grab a couple more colors in a few weeks. The Santini is nice fitting but it's lacking the gripper at the hem that the LG has.

is it fred to wear it on rides? Worse, you're screwed because SHE bought it for you. Any girl that pays that much attention to what you like and is generous with her money to that degree is worth sticking with. You must now willingly go fred to show your appreciation. Ride early, ride fast, and ride far from the places other riders frequent. Man, that sux. |

The three jerseys that I have area all Primal Wear. The difference from the regular Primal jerseys is that they are Tour de Cure jerseys. They all fit slightly different from each other, but I like each one just the same. Im sure it would be the same for their regular jerseys

I rode with a Smartwool jersey yesterday and really enjoyed it. It wasn't a tight fit, like some of the sportier brands, but it was very comfortable and regulated my body temperature well. An interesting fact about Merino wool -- it wicks moisture from your body in the vapor state, not a liquid state like many other materials.

If you do a google search you can usually find a discount coupon too |
Picked up some Giordana Tenax jerseys on eBay. Right now, they're my favorite summer jersey. Lightweight, breathes well, tight enough to not flap during descents. But it doesn't feel like I'm wearing a wetsuit of some kind, which is a feeling I get with a lot of jerseys tight enough not to flap:

I rock the Ironman suit. It's a cheap one I got off ebay, but it works for me. plus it looks cool. I'm typically fine with a jersey as long as it fits well and the pockets are deep and lined up well. |
I've used Sugoi for a number of years, but this year was my breakthrough year using bibs, so LG's collection of full zip jerseys are great. Yeah, the L'Equipe line is superb.

I was doing a search for wool jerseys when I rediscovered this thread. Some how I must have missed the first page and this little gem:
