Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This frame looks even better in person than on the website. I can't believe how light it is for a stock frame. My dog doesn't seem to share in the excitement however.

I like the color combo. What are you going to build it up with?

For the moment, I will be just swapping out the Tarmac Comp frame and putting the Force shifters and derailleurs on it. Otherwise, it will have Rival brakes, Ultegra SL crankset and Ksyrium Elite wheels. I hate how they give 20 degree setback seatposts with the bike, though. I need a zero degree one and so have an Easton EC70 and will be selling the Specialized one.

I saw one in person today, the same frame, but with red instead of blue, I have to say the red was weird, like almost peachy or creamsicle. Wasn't feeling it at all… the matte black carbon portion is really nice though.

No scratches, it's just how the light catches the carbon. I love the frame because the matte look shows every fiber. I've seen the red on a Roubaix and yes, I agree that it does look really weird. I am, however, intrigued by the yellow on the Expert and want to see that one.
As for the dog, I wish I was a bit more mechanically inclined because I'd love to buy a Globe Haul or Trek Transport and weld a sidecar to it for the dog.

This is my favorite color of all the new frames. I had one on order, but the allure of OSBB was too hard to resist, so changed it to the works frame instead in Neon Red. I've seen the red in person and its probably one of the most obscene colors for a frame yet. Had they offered OSBB for the blue one you bought, I'd be posting a picture like you in sheer giddyness.

Just an FYI though, by todays standard the Tarmac is not light.

if you can build it within grams of 15.0 lbs (which I'm quite positive you can) why does it matter??

eta - color looks awesome yo!!! so jealous!

You can build alot of bikes close to 15 lbs these days. But to make up for the 200+grams of frame weight you will have to spend more to do it. Nothing against Tarmacs, I own one and have had 3 others.

I don't disagree... maybe the trade off was additional stiffness for those 200ish grams and they deemed that to be a worthwhile trade... who knows, engineers do some strange things sometimes... haha

Beautiful bike! What's the weight savings between the Comp and the Pro? (I have a 2009 Comp, that's why I'm asking.)

Hmm, I actually have no idea. I just know that the Comp weighed 18.34 pounds with my build. i will weigh the Pro and let you know. I got it more because I like the feeling of the rear end way more in the sl2 and sl3 bikes and could get the sl3.

I absolutely love their matte black. I like the blue too, goes really well, but there isn't any blue in my current kit, and I'm not sure about next year's kit.

I'm definitely considering an SL3 though. They're relatively cheap for a high end frame, and they look great and ride great. I wish there was a solid matte color, more like the 2010 S-Works is, or the 2009 Carbon/Silver SL3 I think it was.
