To buy or not to buy?
I've been offered a deal for $1500 to buy a oem Pinarello with Mavic Ksyrium ES and Sram Rival components. This is from the manufacturers that produce the Pinarello, but it is completely naked as it has not had any paint nor decals on it.
You think it's worth it?

I've only recently seen the Pinarello watching the Vuelta winners this past two days and that doesn't look like one of those... The seat stay just looks off.

Throw the stick!!!!
I'm a big Pinarello fan which really makes me hate to say this, that is one ugly bike.

I can practically guarantee that that's an ebay frame. They cost $350. The group costs $500 (on Ebay). The wheels are another $400 (again, Ebay) so if you want to spend $1500 on a used $1250 bike (plus some haberdashery like cables) go right ahead

I'm pretty sure it is. Supposedly from the same manufacturers that make most carbon road bikes, just no decals.
Though I'm still skeptical but I've read that these generic frames aren't all that bad...I just don't know which manufacturer created this frame.

Pinarello's been making some ugly bikes of late, but they haven't made anything with as ungainly a downtube and toptube as that thing, though.

if i had time to waste i'd go pull up the 5 ebay listings for that frame. with that said, it probably is made in the same place to the same specs as some high end brand so it's probably a perfectly good bike but you could just buy this frame for $350 ebay and buy a full ultegra bike from bikes direct for 1000 strip the group off and resell that frame for $200 and save yourself about 400 bucks

i was somewhat curious about these ebay frames, i ran the math on it, seemed like you could build one to your own specs (nice specs) for about 1500... problem seems to be the lack of warranty, but overall quality seems to be similar to most of the big name makers (trek, spec, c-dale, giant, etc.)... down side, lack of ability to test fit/ride them... lack of ability to demo one is what would keep me clear of it... just my .02

I hate the screaming graphics on bikes these days, but those hideous frames really do look better with the distracting shapes and words plastered all over them.
