Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What is the difference between the slick and the cx version?

I'll avoid the Captain obvious tread issue. Having used both the slick and the CX I prefer the CX by far. Why? (subjective mind you) I find the CX handles better, better grip, rides smoother and is faster.

Normally tread pattern on a road bike tire does nothing but the cx has a coarse enough trend pattern that I suppose it is possible that it does something.

It seams odd that Vittoria would release a new product that is inferior to the existing one? Unfortunately their website says almost nothing about the products or how they compare against each other. I use the VXII tubies and like them a lot. Would love to know how the slicks compare.
