I have been toying with the idea of trading my black Thomson masterpiece (not pictured) for a silver one, then finishing it off with a silver Thomson x2, silver Thomson stem cap and silver headset. I would still keep the rest of the components black.
I know it might not match 100% but I think it could look pretty good. Any input? Anyone able to photoshop it?
thanks!

Need advise. My CAAD 10-4, bought in October. Sorry for the bad photo.
Have made a few small upgrades. Planning to do seatpost,,saddle, and stem.
Should I go for white bar tape?

Edit: meh, wife went to bed. I'll do it now lol.
would be better if you had a picture of the bike that was level or a tad bit above instead of looking up.

you asked for opinions, so I will give mine, NOOOOO. Not only should you not go for white bar tape, my opinion says the white saddle and pedals look out of place. With the paint scheme you chose black is what looks good, you couls maybe add SMALL splashes of red hear and there and it still look good but that machine is built for silver and black. Again, just my opinion, it's your bike and your money.

So I know that the lighting is always going to be difficult to try to make it match, so a photoshop is going to be off no matter what. But I actually think that looks good...I would also do a silver headset and seatpost clamp as well, so that may help. I wonder if I can find a local shop that has them in stock to compare finishes.

Personally think going silver like you are wanting washes it out. I think the black balances ithe colors. I would stick with the black if it were up to me.
Keep in mind I did put a Thomson specific headset on there (below the spacers). The only way to make it completely silver is by buying silver machined spacers which they do have also.the only part of the headset you can see is right above and just below the head tube.

Its hard to compare the two, the SS has SRAM Rival, and the CAAD 10 has 105. To me the 105 cant compete with Rival. I love the shifting, and the short throw of the SRAM. I also like the audible click of the SRAM.
They both perform almost the same, the SS is more responsive, but I think its cause its 4 lb. lighter. The CAAD 10 is surprisingly smooth, and removes road buzz almost the same as the SS. The only difference in the ride that I can tell is that when I ride the SS, when I go over bigger bumps in the road, it feels like the tires are low on air. They are not, its just the way the frame dampens the bumps.
My ultimate goal is to buy Force for the SS, and put the Rival on the CAAD 10. I want to go away from the 105 if I can.
I got the SS from my wife for Christmas, and I use it for a nice Sat, Sun group ride/Century bike. Then I recently sold my CAAD 8, and needed a replacement commuter, race bike and a rain, bad weather bike, so I bought the CAAD 10. I have often thought, if I had to only have one which one would it be, and my answer would have to be the CAAD 10 as long as I could swap the components over.
To me the CAAD 10 is just to versatile, and really is a "can do everything" bike, and I don't think I could have a carbon bike as my only bike. I do love my SS, and they both have their purpose.

The color is a bit off, but I don't know if I think that's a big deal. Kind of like a black stem/seatpost being a different kind of black than the paint on a black bike m

To me, it is a huge deal. If your going to try and match up colors, they need to match near perfect. Otherwise it will clash more than compliment IMO. Same for carbon, I dislike seeing carbon 3k weave mixed with unidirectional carbon on bikes.
Look into deda silver or ritchey silver to see if it has a better match.

Hey guys - I have a 2011 CAAD10 105. Newbie wrench question for you. It still has the stock headset with the 25mm (I think) cone along with some spacer which I currently have above the stem. If I wanted to slam the stem, not saying I do at this point, what would I need to do? Do I need a new headset? What replaces the cone? I'm slowly lowering my position but have reached the limit imposed by the cone. Thanks!
