Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I think if it were just a post I was going to buy Ritchey WCS is hard to beat for $, quality, weight, and ease of use. That said I match my post, bar, and stem. So now I am running 3T as I love the Tornova bars.

3T has been on my try it list for a while. Ergonova shape on the tops looks interesting.

I have this in 48 cm and think the bike is awesome. Even if I had paid full price it would have been worth every penny.

I'm using an FSA set - OS-99 CSI stem and a K-Force Ergo carbon bars. They're great, very light and very stiff. And even at 120 mm I can't feel the stem flex.

I have a Ritchey set on my other bike - C260 stem and Logic bars, both aluminum. Stiff as I need them to be, but a bit heavier though. But hey, it's on my training bike anyway.

As for the seat post, I'm using FSA K-Force Light on the CAAD10. I've had an SL-K on there previously but changed to the K-Force just to have things match. Both are good - pretty stiff but very good at minimizing road buzz as well. Your choice of saddle would have a greater effect on comfort though IMO.

Appreciate the recommend. I went 3T with the Ergonova Bar/ARX2 Stem, Dorico Pro post. I've been riding SMP Dynamic saddles for a year or so. Very happy with the fit.

While I can't comment on the actual power meters, I had quite bad experience with the FSA gossamer cranks. Crapy shifting & heavy as hell. Also worth to note that you can use a praxis works or a rotor 30to24 converter bottom bracket and you can skip the BB30 adapters. Those BBs were designed for BB30 shimano users.

Hey Everyone,

I previously owned a 2005 CAAD8 (R1000) and had to sell it in 2010. Last year I got back into cycling and got a decent deal on an old Trek 5200. I've been riding consistently since then, and decided maybe it's time to upgrade. I miss my old CAAD8 and decided CAAD was the best way to go. I will likely go with the Ultegra model (rim brake) and was wondering if anyone knew the stock crankset length since their website doesn't seem to have the info, or maybe I'm not sure where to look? Thanks in advance.

Appreciate the feedback! I did go with the P2Max FSA, although it comes with Praxis chainrings so that should alleviate shifting issues. Decided I wanted L/R balance feedback & would not get that out of the Stages. So now I have a 6800 crankset to unload. Frame should be here tomorrow, rest of the stuff by the weekend.

The crankarm length changes with the size of the bikes. What size are you? I know a 56 has 172.5

I hope it works out well for you! I know it's late, but for $999 you could get a pioneer install kit. Anyway, hope p2m works out great (it's definitely a more mature product than pioneer).

Thanks for replying. That's the size I'm thinking about getting. I'm 5'10'' and thought about the 54cm, but am unsure about the bars being so close for sprinting. My arm span is a little longer than I am tall, so I feel like the reach will be fine.

Don't know why but like I said maybe it has something to do with size availability. He even showed the website where he was checking inventory of the model I'm purchasing and you can see the month/date availability (as far as I can remember) so I'm assuming that's the dealer login with Cannondale.

Synapse 2011.

Well I won't go as far as get a women's specific bike even if there was a huge discount (but that's just me).

I'm about an inch shorter than you and ride a 54 CAAD12. Also 172.5 stock crank. My arms are not long relative to my height and I still run a longer stem. Seems like a 56 would probably be right for you (though I'm sure a 54 would still be fine).

My 54cm CAAD10 has 172.5s.

I'm 5'10 with a 32" inseam and normally ride 55/56cm frames, but I went with the 54 on the CAAD so I could slam the stem and put aero bars on for the occasional Tri. I had to switch out the stock 100mm stem for a 120 after a while, but no regrets, it's a beauty.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and don't know much about cycling. I'm after some advice or opinions if anyone can help. I own a Caad9 made in USA with Shimano 105 bits, black with silver writing, I'm unsure of the year, possibly 2010, I bought it second hand a few years ago. Unfortunately I now have a child :-) so don't have time to road riding, I don't know whether to sell it or try to soften it up and put some slightly more park-friendly tyres on it for when the kid finally learns to ride. Any thoughts would be welcome!

If the bike fits you & you like riding it, keep it. If you feel the bike is just ok, then sell. You can always buy another bike, but getting one thats fits & feels near perfect, well that's the difficult bit.

My CAAD brothers. So I havent posted here in a while but I was hit by a car about a month ago. The bike took the hit so I wasn't hurt. A woman in a minivan talking on her phone turned when she wasn't supposed to. She knocked me off the bike and then ran my bike over. The bike was crushed and destroyed completely. I couldn't even save the components, it was all ruined. I wasn't the original owner of my bike so of course I couldn't go through C'dale. The womans insurance ended up giving me $1200 and I took it. I was going to save for a CAAD12-3 but the waiting got to me and I ended up finding a very lightly used 2015 CAAD10-3 the guy was asking $1400 OBO and I offered $1200. He took it and I'm back in CAAD nation. The situation sucked but I'm so happy it all worked out. For those that don't remember, I had a CAAD7 before.
