Well consider me a part of the cult. I ended up purchasing the CAD2 for my girlfriend last week. She fell in love with the bike immediately. For what I paid ($280) I think I got an incredible deal. The bike is super clean, it functions like new and the scratching on the frame is minimal.
The guy told me "shinamo components" which was vague and I didn't expect much (maybe sora or another low end set)...He showed up and it was a full 105 set! He let me keep the two bottle cages, cateye computer, toe clips and a nice serfas seat. I was surprised by the weight...22.4 lbs with all of those accessories (only 2 pounds heavier than my '10 felt f95 with about the same setup on it) I didn't experience the stiff, unforgiving ride some of you and some outside reviews had mentioned. Maybe it's the combo of the nice Mavic rims (can't see the model, most of the sticker has come off) and the cushy seat, but I think it feels great. The bike shifts like butter (surprising for old indexed dt shifters) and handles on a dime. Best of all, my girlfriend will go out on long rides with me now! Anyways, as you can tell, I'm really happy with the CAD purchase...hopefully she'll let me ride it now and then. Enough talk, here are some photos. (terrible quality, I apologize--I can't seem to find reasonable lighting in my studio dungeon apt.) http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/a...8/IMG_5496.jpghttp://i869.photobucket.com/albums/a...8/IMG_5497.jpghttp://i869.photobucket.com/albums/a...8/IMG_5499.jpg The red bar tape is atrocious (going to buy/install some black when I've got the time) I kind of like the red tires, but they don't have much life left in them. Otherwise, I don't think much needs to change about this bike. |
TriEngineer, What kind of equipment swap?
chanmbers078, Good for you. The CAAD2 had a different tubeset than the CAAD 3 and 4 of the same time, primarily the downtube, IIRC. Brad |

So I am about to pick up a 2009 CAAD9 in (what should be) my size and by description very little usage. It's the CAAD9-6 and I talked him down to $525. If it is as described, is this as good a craigslist deal as I think?
|
That's a great deal.
I would pay that much just for the frame. |
Yack. It's a triple. Well, I can live with that until I upgrade the components (if I so decide).

As promised, here is a crappy cell phone pic. http://lh6.ggpht.com/_r9RTAY0q4do/TK...2010.11.12.jpg
Easton wheels bring it to 16 lbs. Speedplays are on the way, saddle is Fizik Ares TT saddle. Everything else is stock. |

Very nice. :D |
So is the caad 10-3 ultegra worth the extra cash over the caad 10-4 force? I am not super familiar with SRAM stuff and wondered if I should lay out the extra cash... I am upgrading the wheelset either way.

The CAAD10-4 is a rival groupset with a force bb30 crank. Being that the only weak point in the Rival group is the crank, Cannondale hit a home-run with this model. The New ultegra is a very nice groupset, I just prefer the way sram shifts. I also have added a dura-ace cassette because sram doesn't make anything smaller than 11-23, I need 11-21. I personally really like the new 105 and think it is also a great groupset. I think the key thing in all of these is the crankset. I prefer the sram brand crank to the fsa branded ones on the shimano equipped bikes. Nothing wrong with them, just not my preference. Cannondale uses FSA cranks in place of the Shimano ones for better use and marketing of the BB30 system. Good luck with your purchase.

It certainly isn't stiffness... |

Here's my 2010 Caad9. 105 all around except for an Ultegra upgrade on the rear. I'm going to change out the wheels to something nicer once money allows, and I've already upgraded the tyres to Schwalbe Ultremo R1's (not shown). Full carbon fork helps with road vibrations on such a stiff aluminum frame. Caad9, arguably the best aluminum road frame available.

It finally arrived! Pictured here with the RS10's still on. The Mavic Ksyrium Elites won't be in until next week.

I'm getting tempted by the cult. CAAD 10 is beautiful.
