Meet the new Scott, same as the old Scott

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That IS a nice bench. I'm guessing you get more compliments on that bench than any of your bikes.

I'm getting deja vue. Haven't we done this before?

Nice bike. I like the Addict. The first one looked good and so does this one and so does your bench. I saw a yellow one at a festival and I test rode it and a Cervelo S3. I liked the S3.

In a bike weenie bike schwag kind of way, I understand the decision.

I would have bought this one, however.

The 2011 Addict R15, which is spec'd with Sram Red, has a blue color scheme. Same frame as the R2. R2(Ultegra) lists for $3300, R15 lists for $4500 (I think the only difference is the component group, Red instead of Ultegra, so the R15 would be lighter).

Just remember you've got narrower rims if you get a wheel from nuetral support, and adjust accordingly.

I hear those Addicts "scream Sram".

i built a stock r15, and without pedals, it was 15.3 lbs on the dot for a 54. light stuff. considering the bs stock saddle and relatively heavy elites it comes with.

That frame must be light, 900 grams like they say (the pricier one is 800 grams). My Addict R2 is 15 lbs. 11 oz for a 56 cm bike with cages, pedals. The lighter bits include Zero G brake calipers (100 gram savings over stock Ultegra) and Dura Ace 1380 clincher wheels (150 grams lighter than the Elites). That's very light for a 56 cm Ultegra/clincher road bicycle. The Red components might shave 6-8 oz (remember I have lighter brakes already).

By the way those Elites aren't really all that 'heavy', but Zipp tubulars or Dura Ace light clinchers they ain't.

But you do have to ride an Addict for a while to appreciate what a killer race bike it is. Best climber/sprinter I've personally ever ridden, handles like a laser, and while it's stiff, once you get used to it, you discover it's actually rather comfortable, particularly for such a stiff bike. I can ride that bike 70-100+ miles with no problem. Very different than the Cervelo, which is also a great bike.

Like Rich from Bike Doctor says, once you get over three grand, none of it sucks kid.

Correct. Elites are 1550 grams which aren't exactly boat anchors, and they are a reliable all around wheel set.

OK, so it's not that different. But it's new and shiny. Covet and, if you feel compelled to rue, do so with Pcad's Encouragement.

I'm pretty sure you've got 11 ounces of spacers under that stem.
