Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bontrager saddles ?

Anyone use bontrager saddles ? Like or dislike ? I know everyone is different and every saddle won't work for everyone.

I used to use a Race which I switched out for a brooks swallow. It was pretty comfortable. Switched more for aesthetics than necessity.

Funny you should mention it.

I've been using a Terry Fly Ti for three years and decided that there was too much padding to it. On an impulse and armed with Happy Birthday money, I bought a Top of the heap temptech hollow ti carbon saddle with a bare minimum of padding and no mid-line cut-out. It's also white so it looks sharp on my white and red Lemond Buenos Aires.

I've put on about 60 miles on it and I think I really like it. It's counter-intuitive, but as it is so minimalist only my sit bones come in contact with the saddle, so it is much easier on my taint and doesn't tend to rub along my inner thighs.

I will probably have to put duct tape over the "B" since everybody disses Bontrager products. But so far I'm impressed.

I have one (don't know the model). I got it because it was the only sub-$100 saddle available when I was getting my fitting. It has served me well for a few thousand km's of riding and racing!

After trying out Specialized entire line and hating them all, I tried the Race-Lite (middle of the road race) and have loved it. No more butt pain up to 90miles. I've got close to 3000 miles on it.

the Informs do fairly well on ebay, especially the RXLs, so some people like them.

Yeah, that's it. I bought a RXL. As I said, I think it's a good saddle.

Got one from the $12 bin at my LBS (the re-sell ones they remove for folks who want more cush) and stuck it on my Bianchi Axis. Seems to work well, and it's my winter bike, so I don't feel bad about trashing it.

I used the Bontrager R2 that came on my Trek 4.7 for 400 miles. It was OK but would start to hurt at 30+ miles. Tonight I just got and installed my SLR Gel Flow so we'll see what tomorrow's ride says about it.

I like the RXL so much that I'm the guy buying them all up on eBay, both black and white. I've done a bunch of 200k rides on them with no trouble.

You have to try different saddles to find which one works because every saddle out there will have people who like them so what works for them might not for you.

I've got the RL and it works great for me. 90-day comfort guarantee, too.
