Trek 2.1 WSD or Specialized Dolce Comp

Hello,
I am a fairly new biker and was wondering if I could get any suggestions on a road bike. I am looking at the Trek 2.1 WSD vs. the Specialized Dolce Comp. I am also looking at the Trek Lexa SLX (but I beleive it is fairly similar to the Trek 2.1).
Any suggestions?
Rita

Did you get any response?

I have almost identical questions and was hoping someone had given their insight. I would like a WSD and am comparing Trek, Specialized Dolce and Scott Contessa. Very interested in people's thoughts.

Treks are also overpriced, though not as ugly.

Get the one you feel best on, or at least the one you like the color of better.

+1

Also there's a women's specific forum somewhere in here (I don't know how to get to it as I don't qualify but ask a mod). You may get more level headed answers in there, from other women.

Fit is important, and think about "future fit", i.e. if you'll be doing a type of riding that favors one type of fit over another (tri-, "racing", long distance, commuting). If you're going to do group rides and other "regular riding" then it's less important. It's just frustrating to try and help someone who bought a very upright bike and now wants to be longer and lower, or someone who got a "racing" bike and now wants to be more upright and closer to the bars.

As you get accustomed to the bike your fit will evolve. Any significant changes in fitness can also affect fit (i.e. gaining or losing size).

hope this helps

I do not have any personal experience with those two bikes; however, i can tell you that i have owned a trek and a specialized and specialized seems to pay attention to the most minor details and i have not seen that in trek. With that said both are good bikes and that is why they are two of the top 10 bike manufacturers. Specialized has gone up in price but this is pretty consistent across the board. I think they are pretty competitive with the various price points when you look at specs and quality of work. I remember when i went looking to get a new endurance bike most of the feedback from the forum and fellow riders was specialized was a non-caring big manufacturer with over priced bikes. Everyone said look at the Cervelo, Look, and a few others. After riding and looking at the bikes i came back to the specialized Roubaix everytime...spec and price wise was the best...plus it jumped seemed to fit the best. Personally everything i have purchased with the specialized logo has been of the highest quality and priced competitively.

Now I do not mean to be telling you to go with specialized with the above rant. I am just saying people will dog them because they are a big company. You need to ride all the bikes you are interested in and go with the one that fits you the best or you feel you will enjoy the most. If you ride it and ride it often you made the best purchase and got the right bike.

My friend just bought a Specialized Dolce comp and loves it. Although she just got hit by a car on it at one week old.
Excellent womens fit and quality. Only wish specialized paid a little more attention to components, for $900+ should have more than shimano 2300 stuff and cheap brakes.

Felt ZW series for women are pretty good also.

I have a Trek 2.1 and I think Specialized looks better.
It's all a matter of taste.
Get the one that fits (or the one that is on sale, like I did lol... I kid, I kid).

How about the dealers? Which dealer are you most comfortable with and do you think will give you the best "After the Sale Service"?
