2005 Giants where?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2005 Giants where?

I saw this really beautiful 2005 blue giant OCR3 on ebay today but couldn't find it on the website..their 'current' bikes are still the 2004s, anyone provide me with a link with their 2005 road bikes?

I don't think that's there full line. According to Bicycling magazine they are introducing full carbon OCRs in the American market.

i doubt the bikes will differ in the australian market to differently to that of the us market. A full carbon ocr sounds a bit stupid (comfort bike full carbon?). They are introducing carbon seat stays on the ocr 1 and ocr 0 but nothing very drastic. Unfortunatly, they wont be available in the us for a while. I was talking to performance bike last night and the guy said the new ocr range wont be available till next year and the others will be in a month or two. cant understand why though, the 2005 range was in australia 1-2 months ago.

I think they are doing it to compete with the Specialized Roubaix line of bikes which has proven to be quite succesful. A full carbon bike with the more relaxed and comfortable geometry makes perfect sense for riders like me who don't aspire to race but like the benefits of carbon. It takes out road buzz, is light weight, is very strong, and makes for a very nice looking frame. IMO as carbon technology improves and becomes more affordable I think we'll see it trickeling down into more and more bikes.

but isn't the roubaix line a lot more expensive than the OCRs anyway?

Yes, I think article in Bicyling magazine stated the composite OCR's would range from 1600 - 3000. Which would make the equivalently equiped giants a few hundred less. As it is now, '04 line, there isn't an option in the giant line for the relaxed geometry with carbon. Which means Giant isn't directly competing with the Roubaix line accept the OCR Elite vs the standard Roubaix. I think thats a smart move on Giants part.

Giants new carbon is going to be SWEET from what I've seen of it... no Zerts inserts gimmicks... they supposedly tuned it to ride and respond without having to use gimmicky stick on inserts.

I know the club racers here really like the TCR composites so if they just make that frame with OCR geometry I think they will be awesome bikes indeed.

so would the price be certainly more expensive than the 04 OCRs (the ocr3 for example) or priced similarly? since i remember the 05 allez triple wasn't that much more expensive than the 04 model..

The article in Bicycling said the composite OCRs would range from 1600-3000 dollars so it would certainly be more than the current OCRS. My guess on the '05 OCR range

Al frame
OCR3 - No signifigant change
OCR2 - No signifigant change

Al/Carbon hybrid frame
OCR1 new frame same components (based on au site)
OCR Zero/Elite (basically same as '04 elite again based on au site)

Carbon
OCR Composite 3 wth 105
OCR Composite 2 with Ultegra
OCR Composite 1 with Dura Ace
OCR Composite 0 with Record/Chorus maybe....... it would be cool anyway.

doesn't the 2005 OCR3 now have a new carbon fork? will this increase the price of the ocr3 significantly? i'm thinking it should be at around $600usd?

I think it's 550 now. So 600 wouldn't seem out of the question. The bikes are more price sensitive on the lower end of the range so I don't think they would increase it very much.
