My bliss was quickly interrupted and I was brought back to reality when 9 miles in, I had to choose between running right into a pothole, or riding over a rock. I chose to take my chances with ridding over the rock and **POP**! next thing I know I'm goin 19 mph on a flat front tire.
I pulled off the road and walked my wounded bike to a walgreens about 100 yards away where I waited 45 minutes for my brother to come pick me up.
IT WAS SUCH A BUZZ KILL, that put a sudden and premature end to my Friday ride.

AND a last, I'm sure that after this, your 6th post, you will have learned not to post such obvious weakness. As I learned many years ago in training from my chief resident...." I'm always here to help you but I will consider it a sign of weakness if you ask" Perhaps not the wisest philosophy when applied to patient care but definitely a motivator to learn quickly.

Stop picking on the guy, folks - be constructive and tell him what he should have done.

Heh, I'll chime in with "STF about how to fix Road Tubeless; it's all there".

I thought about this thread today as I was bouncing over a gravel road 20 miles from home. And I thought, OMG, what if I get a flat? And then I remembered I'd brought a patch kit. And a spare tube. And a frame pump. And the knowledge to use them.

So I carried on my merry way.

You, sir, deserve a beer.

You might know the guy I found on the side of a busy road on Sunday. I've just finished climbing a decent hill with a fairly wide, rideable shoulder, when I find this guy with a beautiful Specialized walking along pushing his bike. Being the genteel Southerner I am, I stop to offer assistance. He's got a flat, but no spare tube. I go so far as to offer him my spare and he tells me... wait for it... "I don't know how to change a tube." My gentility does not include giving tube changing lessons three feet from 50 mph traffic, so I let him borrow my cell phone to call his WIFE to COME GET HIM. I felt ashamed for him.

I'm riding away wondering which is worse, not knowing how to change a tube, or not knowing how to change a tube and then not even bothering to bring a phone.

Still and all I see fellow cyclist that are weight weenies and the only thing they carry is a cell phone to get them out of trouble. I just don't get it. Some of them have regular routes that take them into areas of no cell service too. I told one the other day who was giving me some sass about all the "cargo" I carry, that if he breaks down, don't expect me to bail you out. You brung the phone in case of emergency and you can use it.
