Good deal on 2005 trek madone 5.2?

I test rode the new trek madone 5.2 today, which was very nice. The dealer said he could sell for 2600, is that a good price? Is anybody out there looking at or has the madone 5.2? I was also thinking about the six13 with ultegra components at about $3500 or the new r1000 at about $2000, both of which I wouldnt be able to test ride. Is anybody out there looking for a new road bike? Comments and opinons would be greatly appreciated.

Good deal on the madone in general or versus the other bikes you mentioned? As afar as I know $2600 is the normal price for the 5.2. With regards to as which bike to use from aren't there other places where you could test ride the other bikes (so you can maybe also compare prices, service etc)? I believe Canondales usually have a better package on components (especially wheelsets) because their bikes are aluminum vs the more expensive carbon. The ride is something that you will get 100 different opinions on.

I already bought a Madone 5.2, the price you would be paying is a correct one. About the ride, it's obvious I would recommend you the Madone as I already bought one. Just try riding on both. My opinion is that the Madone is smooth and also climbs fast, that's what i like to do the most. The shape of the new ultegra 2005 shifters (narrower) should be great for handling out of the saddle. I'm still waiting for it to arrive.

Which bike shop? I think the sticker on the 5.2 at the Trek Store on Kearney Mesa is $2650. I don't know if that is the "real" price or the starting price. FYI, they also have (or had) some 2004 5200s on close out.

UC Cyclery is the bikeshop where they quoted 2600 for the madone. Is Kearney Mesa far from UCSD?

Check out the 05 Felt F35 DA/9 for the most part and really well equipped for around $1700.

I would try to decide on your budget first then look at the bikes available at your price range (as each manufcturer is sure to have something for that level). After that you will most probably find that most/if not all bike will be similarly specced so it will boil down to the test rides and ofcourse general feell for the bike.

I would say at $3500 (your quoted price dor the six13) you will upgrade a bit more in the trek line (if you can wait a few months maybe get the ultegra 10) and similarly there are just so many good brands out there.

Not by car. It's off the 163 right where the 52 crosses it. 20 minutes tops without traffic.

They had a triple 5200 that was used as a demo in the Trek Experience (or whatever their traveling demo shows are) for $1900 and a couple of "out of the box" 5200's that were $2100 I think.

if you ever see some guy riding a blue trek with blue nikes, a blue jersey, and a blue backpack on campus, give me a hollar haha (usually decked out all in blue except when i decide to wear a usps jersey)

I'm not sure of other bike shops, but Trek San Diego (kearny mesa) has an excellent fit program for the life of the bike if you purchase it there, so even if you end up paying a bit more, you recieve excellent service, a very good fitting program, and free maintenance for the life of the bike. they're having a bike fit seminar in the store in a week or so too.

pricing sounds about right. 15% or so off msrp...i'd say you'll probably find it around the $2550-$2750 range in SD...
