Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No wonder people think we're crazy

We're schizophrenic.

On one hand, people generally agree that members should use the search function. On the other hand, people dislike zombies.

Human zombie interrelation issues aside, the whole point of searching is to find zombie threads -- if they ain't zombies, you don't need to search for them. And it doesn't seem nuts to think that expanding the existing content does any harm. After all, few cycling issues are bound in time, and people wouldn't contribute to the thread if it didn't interest them. Just sayin'

Hoping not to get in trouble with the mods for posting this but there is a disconnect...

Zombie threads are a great resource for archaic information. If used properly of course, heck if they are used at all Or is the word I am trying to use "archived"???

Now at least we know why you resuscitated a 10 year old thread.

Just the opposite. It comes down to one thing, BFers dislike noobs.
They dislike the fact that a noob starts a thread about something that has been talked about a thousand times. They also dislike equally the fact that a noob revives a thread about something that has been talked about a thousand times.
BFers would much rather engage in more intellectually stimulating conversations about the meaning of the word "normal".

Yes, find the zombies, read them, maybe learn something. Doesn't mean arbitrarily respond to them 10 years later.

seriously can you just give the topic a rest. your "intellectual" posts are annoying. if you dont want to answer to a post just ignore it and dont click on it. you want "noobs" to search archives, fine. all thats going to do is make new guys go to a different website for their answers from actual humans and leave all you old farts aka "pros" alone on this website to circle jerk each other

the disconnect is this:

noobs would not search for an old thread and then offer "advice" to a poster who probably has already bought and sold five bikes since then (and who has only one lifetime BF post as well, in 2000)

noobs would search for an answer to their question, receive it, and then move on.

you are not a noob.

you are trying to prove a point by throwing red herrings.

fail.

A few helpful hints if you find my posts annoying:
  • You can ignore posts you don't like
  • If that is too hard, there's an ignore function that can do that for you
  • Don't bark at dogs. If you find me annoying, responding to me might not be the best way to get me to shut up as I'm having fun
  • I was going to say that only in the 41 could idiocy be mistaken for being intellectual. But check out A&S the SS/FG forums. You may find the discussions there more your speed

Settle down, Beavis.

Oh, and physician, heal thyself or something like that.

wasn't someone resurrecting threads from the same date from previous years for a new lease of life?
