Need Bike Help!

My parents have agreed to buy me a Cannondale SuperSix 5 bike. I can get it from a shop 30 min drive away with a great deal on a light wheel set (1300 grams, $200 extra for a trade in). Alternatively i can get it from a local shop without the great wheel set. Is it worth it to have the possibility of dropping in at the local shop or having the wheels? Thanks :)

30 minute drive and extra $200 otherwise youll regret it later and just spend more cash on a wheelset. what wheels would you be trading in and what ones would be the upgrade. how much weight difference are you talking about? do you race?

thanks for the advice :D id be changing from Shimano RS10 to an edge slr 200 (different company from the composite edge's). The shop can get me the wheels for $200 when they usually sell for $800. Yes I do race, winter series crit this weekend.

What shop? I'd go for the one with the wheels

I wish my parents would get me a bike :(

Yeah, got both of mine off CL. I would just rather not have to pay for them myself ;)

Drive as far as you need to buy the bike that you want. The idea that local bike shops are more helpful to the people who buy bikes from them is largely a myth, in my experience.

No sir, I don't. I've put on quite a few pounds over the last few years and I'm way out of shape.. hahaha.. I'd love to someday when I get into better shape though.
