Frame size gaff ,,,,didnt read the fine print; what to do?

Road Cycling It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle. -- Ernest Hemingway

Frame size gaff ,,,,didnt read the fine print; what to do?

So I just got my new 58CM Voodoo Rada frame delivered today. At least I thought it was a 58CM frame.

I bought it from here:

http://www.universalcycles.com/shopp...s.php?id=32526

You will note that while the size of the bike I bought says in boldface "58CM", underneath in lite gray tipe it says "Mfg #: RADA 09 60TT ORANGE". Well I didnt pay any attention to that when I ordered, assuming 58CM corrsponeded to Voodoo sizing. Not so. Frame arrived and it is fact a 60cm frame as far as Voodoo sizing is concerned since they list size accordng to TT rather than ST. I can only surmise that universal cycles took it upon themsleves to use ST length as size rather than the sizing convention VooDoo uses (if you look at the 50 cm frame they have listed, they do the same thing, noting that it has a 53cm TT). Nowhere does it say this, so I looked up Voodoo 58cm geometries on the Voodoo site, determined that they were comparable to my current bikes and orderd what I thought was a 58CM Voodoo frame. So rather than having a frame with a 17.5 cm TT and Head and ST angles of 73.5 and 73. I have a 60CM TT with 20cm HT and angles 74 and 72.5.

So what to do? Can I make this work by adjusting Stem height and length or do I return the frame and start my frame search all over again. Opinions please.

Doubt you can make this work. Call universal cycles about a return. Maybe they can get you a real 58 for shipping cost.

That is messed up, I'd have thought it was a 58 as well. I'd try to return it.

I would've made the same mistake. thats a really bad representation on their part. make sure to take a screen capture incase they try to correct it while you try to get them to fix what they misrepresented to you.

I hope they take it back.

If not, learn to ride a big frame.

That sucks. Return it and get one that fits. There'll be enough to fiddle with even with a properly sized frame.

Yeah, get a screen capture.

Try to return it - be nice about it. But if they don't play ball and you paid with a credit card, ship the frame back and dispute the charge.

They should have listed the manufacturer's sizing. I've dealt with Universal before and the return/refund process was pretty straightforward. The item I received did not match the description on the site. In my case it was a steel fork listed as Tange Prestige tubing but it was actually Inifinity. That's all they needed to process the return and pay shipping. If your frame was listed as a different size you should be able to exchange it and they pay the shipping. Like someone said above be cool about it and they should take care of you.

that sucks hopefully u will be able to return it but I sure wouldn't keep a frame you don't want. You paid money for a 58 not a 60 that's what u should get not try and make it work and live with it.

End of story is that Universalcycles was really great about the return. They paid shipping and even refunded me part of the shipping cost from when the sent me the frame, which I wasn't expecting.
