Trainer setup
Wondering which setup to use:
-Change to trainer tyre from road tyre on the trainer -Chaing to trainer wheelset with trainer cassette, change to trainer chain The second option definitely seems more easier, pita trying to change the tyre always. How do you set your bike for trainer mode? |
Buy a cheap rear wheel and cassette and just swap it out?
|
I bring my bike inside, put it on the rollers and ride. (making sure to use my race wheels so that I get heckled for riding aero wheels indoors)

No, they find other crap to whine about too.
|
trainer tire on a separate wheel with cassette. I don't bother changing the chain. No RD adjustments required, takes 30 secs.
|
Wouldnt it be better to change your chain as well, since it will cause wear?
|
by that logic maybe you should change the cables, maybe the bar tape too?
|
Sorry meaning to say cause different uneven wear to the two different cassette. Not really sure how to put it.
Your chain will wear out faster due to road and trainer cassette usage. When you change to a new chain when it wears out, the new chain will be affected by the used cassette and wear at a faster rate too. Like what they always used to say, a chain for a single cassette, do you do that? |
How much are you planning to ride the trainer? I've never noticed any effect on my regular tires. The only thing I see is that my yellow tire gets coated in aluminum from the trainer roller so I think my tires are wearing out the roller rather than the other way around.
