Stem?

Currently on a 100mm -/+6 Ritchey stem. I originally ride a 120mm on my other bike (55cm) but when I built up my new bike (54cm) I had a 100mm stem that was not being used, so I decided to install that first. Then, when I got fitted by a professional, he said a 100mm will do but is still considered a bit compact.

So here is what I have decided on, to go with a 110mm +/-17 or a 120mm +/-6 or stick with a 100mm but with a +/-17. What would be a smart choice or what will be the most insignificant choice?

thanks

okay, let's get this straight. Your old bike had 55+12cm of reach (assuming the 120mm is reach, not extension) for a total of 67cm. Your new bike has 54+10cm of reach for a total of 64cm. That's a significant change in geometry. Better question for you is a)how comfortable you were on your old bike and b)what do you want to get out of your set-up?

So why are you asking a forum about how to fit you on a bike, with basically useless information to anyone else. Doesn't sound like your fitter is much of a professional if your looking to a forum.

I wouldn't make that assumption. Most stems seem to be measured by extension not reach. 3T is the only one that I've seen that measures by reach.

How is that a decision? +/- 17 seems drastic. 120mm

The older frame is 55cm and newer bike is 54cm, problem is that my fitter is in the US and I am not. I relocated to Asia for work. I think I may go for a 110mm stem and see how things change.
