Does anybody regret buying used kit?
I am looking to get a minimally-worn jersey + bibs from someone and was wondering if anyone has any bad experiences with used goods.

Oh, you've re-opened the big debate over used shorts. Half the people on this forum think it's disgusting to wear something that someone else had right up against their junk and will ask if you'd wear used underwear. The other half think the first half are hypochondriacs.
When I was a junior training 6-7 days a week, I relied on handouts to have enough clothes to wear. A good wash or two before I used them and no problems. Of course, keep in mind that the padding is worn and you might not know how much life is left, but I assume you're getting a good deal as the hypochondriacs keep the demand for used clothing pretty low.

Can't say I didn't warn you.
Oh, and based on the avatar and location, I'm guessing the OP goes boating in Ballona Creek, so s/he really won't be disgusted at using someone else's chamois.

I've bought many used jerseys on E-bay, however I've only bought one pair of used bibs and those were from the ARC thrift store a few years back.

You've got a point there - once you've been drenched in Marina water and exposed to every pathogen known to man (they once found a dead body in the creek... yeah.) you develop a stomach for these things. Haven't been on the water in a while though, so the resistance has most likely dropped.

You know, mostly everyone here is saying its gross etc. but those that have actually purchased and worn used bibs haven't had any issues.

OP, this really isn't a question we could answer for you.
It's up to you. Would you be willing to wear used bibs? If you have no problem with it, then I don't see why it would be an issue.

Guys I don't want to debate the issue - it's already very clear it's personal preference. My post is specifically asking if anyone had any bad results in getting some used stuff. I'm talking specific experiences.

I actually have a pair of used bibs right now. They normally cost $140. I got them for free from a friend who says they never quite fit on her. The fact that they came from a racy female rider is of some comfort, though.
