Mavic Cosmic Carbone SLR Wheelset - Clincher
I was looking at Zipp 404's but saw/purchased Mavic Cosmic Carbone SLR Wheelset - Clincher for $1,000. The price seems right but am I making a mistake?

Not to late to return them, purchased them at Bonktown and had to lock in the deal.
Why is Zipp better?

Zipps are slightly heavier than the new Mavics (about 50 grams) but perhaps a bit more aero (58mm vs. 52mm). But you can't go wrong with those Mavic hoops for only $1000, although I saw them for a bit less than that (Bonktown deals aren't always what they're cracked up to be). Don't worry about it.
Zipps are very cool, but until I've ridden and owned those Mavics, I can't say they're better.

There is no bling in cycling. Any 'bling' perceived by bike weenies is utterly pathetic and completely laughable to the rest of the world.

$1000 + $3.99 = $1003.99
or
$2,000+/- for Zipps
I would rather buy my stickers A la carte Though I don't see the need since the Mavic's look good as they are.

All bike weenies care about is what other weenies think about your bike. The rest of the world already think we are laughable given the spandex gear and they will never understand why we would spend over $1,000 on wheels.

Good question. I'd like to know as well being that I'm interested in these wheels. I haven't seen them for less than thatand I've been looking and Chainreaction has the REAR wheel for $842.42 not the set.

The 404s have much better hubs but I give the nod to the SLRs for durability and ease of maintenance (same freehub body design as the Ksyriums).

See Pcad knew that he could buy them for less, was just waiting for Bonktown to offer them.
Funny thing is that I canceled the order last week, because of the potential of a better price.
I ordered them this time.
