HELP !! Fan direction on wind trainer???

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

HELP !! Fan direction on wind trainer???

I bought a "squirrel cage" fan wheel to replace the broken mag unit on my trainer. Should the fan wheel be installed as forward facing or backward facing? The blades are angled, forward facing would mean that outermost portion of the blade is slightly ahead of the inner portion of the blade when rotating.

I would assume you would face it so that when it spins, the wind would blow towards the bearings/body to keep it cool. If its the type that blows the other direction, I would face it in the direction that would cause wind resistance, sort of like an air brake.

Centrifugal fans are designed to blow away from the center. It should be oriented so that the inner edge of the blades lead the outer edge, "backward facing".
