Pulling the trigger on a 2010 Cervelo S2 - do I have room to negotiate?
After test riding a lot of bikes I'm about to pull the trigger on a 2010 closeout Cervelo S2 with Ultegra. The original price was $4000, now down to $3600 on closeout. I was told I would get 50% off a $300 fitting ( 2-3 hours ) with the purchase, apart from that there didn't appear to be much wiggle room on the price - I didn't really press the issue though...
This will be my first high-end bike purchase so I'm not entirely sure what to expect. Do I just pay the $3600 and take the 50% credit for the fitting? Or is it expected that I haggle a bit? I love the bike and it fits like a glove so honestly I wouldn't mind if I had to pay the $3600, but do want to get the best deal I can.
As I haven't done this before any advice would be awesome before I go pull the trigger tomorrow.
Thanks!

Despite the fact that you're from Baastahn, I'm going to give you this advice;
If you can wait for about 60 days, you're going to get a good $500. off that bike (if not more).
Middle of winter is the best time to buy a bike (especially in the Northeast).
Now, if you WANT the bike, FTW and buy what you want, savings be damned!
Ultimately, once you have the bike, it won't matter how much you paid for it.
You'll forget all that after your first ride of your new bike.
And remember, don't post here again about this bike until you have pics!
(Good luck! )

What you don't have going for you is that there were only cosmetic changes for the S2 in 2011 unlike the R series. But, it can't hurt to try. If I were you I would at least try to get the fitting for free. Negotiation is all about being able to walk away. If you have it in your mind that you're willing to pay $3600, chances are good he's going to call your bluff. Keep a firm number in mind, if he can't make a deal, walk away.

dude your speeds will increase by 5 mph during any type of riding thanks to your new cervelo, so don't wait go run and buy it now!
but in all seriousness, you can wait and lowball it a bit or you can jsut buy it now. As i look at it you may save up to 200 dollars, but you'll need to wait probably another month.

RA Cycle website lists '10 Ultegra S2 for $3600.
I almost "pulled the trigger" on the Cervelo I wanted at the lbs, but, it wasn't set up exactly how I wanted, and they just couldn't budge, so I bought last year's frame from RAC, a build kit from Tom at GVH, and ended up with what I wanted for less money, a loot less.
On the other hand, I don't have a set of wheels to ride in the sand and slush, a seat I don't want, a crankset I don't want, bars that are too narrow, and crappy feeling.

Actually, I get to roll out of bed @ 5AM, hit the road at 6-6:30AM, ride until 9-10AM and then work until 7-8PM most days. You know, just so I can pay my assistant his princely salary and cover that $4K mortgage/tax ticket every month. Then there are those days when I'm working until midnight, but we won't go into that.
As for placing in races, I've done that a few times. I was never good at this sport kid. I was always slow. Now I'm old, fat and slow.
I love the logic. 'But Ned Overend is your age, he can climb with the pros'. I don't have Ned's genetics or talent. I'm a 23 mph TT guy. The fast guys my age are 25 mph+ TT guys. If I train and train and train and train and train and train and train I may become a 24 mph TT guy.
Hey, either way I'm still faster than 99% of the idiots here, so whatEVER. I suck at racing and I still love it. And I'm not always sure why.

The reason I am asking is because I am about to buy a 2011 specialized allez this week, but if you say the price will drop within the next 2 months, then I will definitely wait.
Thanks for your time.
