Considering ergo handlebars, which ones?
I've been looking at ergo handlebars with flat or "wing" tops for a while now but I'm not sure which ones to go with.
I've checked out Ritchey, FSA, and 3T. What concerns me is the 3T model I looked at said they were "great for smaller physiques." I'm 6'3" 230 pounds, definitely not small. Can anyone recommend a pair they've used or own? Preferably aluminum, but won't rule out carbon if the price is right. |
any reason why you want the wing portion?
if you exclude that, there's a whole slew of possibilities. |

FSA K-Wings. Carbon and super comfy!
(Compact VS Ergo...things to consider) |

I think they wing tops are comfortable, based on the ones I've checked out. Any reason I should not look into them?
if it's the tops, then your bars might be too far forward, because you should be in the drops or on the hoods for most of the ride. If you're comfortable in the drops, your most normal and neutral position when just riding along, then you can always grab the hoods or tops when you're exhausted. If your neutral position is on the tops, then you'd never use the hoods or drops, which give more comfort and control, because they're too aggressive or far away to reach properly and comfortably. think tops = last resort when you're exhausted. |

I like the K Sword over FSA K Wing. The tops and corners are uber comfy.

Just yesterday, I was at my regular LBS and talked with the head mechanic about the drop bar conversion I had just done. He had put new drop bars on a customer's bike, too, and they happened to be 3T bars with flats like you're talking about.
The big difference between my Easton bars' flats and the 3T's was that the 3T's were, well, "flatter" -- that is, they were more horizontal and not angled back like the Easton's were. This put the wrists at a less severe angle, which the customer requested because of carpal tunnel. I gotta say, I'm now thinking of getting the same bars. I'll keep riding the Eastons for a while and see how they feel, though. |

FSA K-Wing
I think the biggest size it comes in is 44cm. But I'm sure you can get a very similar knock-off in a 46cm. http://www.road.fullspeedahead.com/p...&pid=193&lid=1 http://www.masherz.com/images/produc...a/kwingbig.jpg |
